Great quick trip from Amsterdam to see traditional Holland. You can pay small fees to tour windmills and such, but the views are amazing and several demonstrations are free! I suggest you take the Sprinter train. It's less than 5€ and only a 20 minute ride!

What a delightful little village with lots of different windmills. This is an attraction well worth visiting, even on a very cold and wet day. Having resited all these windmills together to protect them is a marvellous idea. Even the buildings have been reerected on this site to show how a Dutch village was in the past. Even though very touristy it is a delight to wander around. Even the souvenir shops are quite good and not too full of rubbish. There is also a pewter maker at the end of the village and she is using tools left to her by her grandfather. She is making wonderful pewter vases, teapots, cofee pots etc. There is a car parking fee if going independantly which I suggest rather than by coach. It is only a short distance from Amsterdam.

Very beautiful place with many things to see and do. There are several very beautiful windmills and houses here. I believe there is also a boat tour here, although I did not went on it. Particularly like the cheese store here, with many different types of cheese available to purchase. The syrup waffle here is also very good.

There is also a place to watch them demonstrate how the dutch clogs (klompen) is made. Very interesting!

Lots of tour buses comes here, so be patience!

A terrific place to spend several hours, particularly in the morning before tourist buses arrive. Get a feel of Dutch culture and history (windmills, shoe-making, cheese-making, etc. Rent a bicycle and enjoy a ride along the waterfront. Avoid the high-priced restaurant and eat a snack at the fast-food place next to the restaurant. Easy to access by train from Central Station. Highly recommend.

Great stroll along the place and capture the fabulous view of windmills and clogs. Amazing splendid, if you are lucky and the season is right, you may catch a glimpse of the lovely colourful tulips too.
