My husband and I visited the Keukenhof twice in April. The first time was April 12 and the second was a week later on the day of the flower parade. I have visited many gardens in the world, but never one as spectacular as this one. Winter stayed later than usual this year so there were few tulips in bloom in the garden, but there were wonderful displays of daffodils, crocus, hyacinths and many other early spring bulbs in the meticulously manicured garden. However, the pavilions which are huge open buildings like greenhouses but far more beautiful, were filled with outstanding displays of tulips and all plants that are grown from bulbs plus another building full of orchid displays.
By the second visit, the area had warmed up and there were many tulips in bloom outdoors along with the ones in the pavilions. It was the day of the Flower Parade so the place was packed but there was public transportation available from the Central Station and the crowds were very well managed.
For a delightful experience you don't have to go to the Keukenhof at the height of tulip bloom. there are wonderful flowers the entire spring there.
I recommend it for people of all ages. There is even a cute little farm with live baby animals for the children.
