“Excellent place from which to see Haarlem and investigate other parts of the Netherlands”

The house is exactly as shown on the pictures. It is very easy to stay here and the instructions are excellent ,with everything (incl the wifi) worked really well. It is in a great location for getting round Haarlem which is a lovely place to stay and to use as a base to look round places in the Netherlands.

“Everything we needed and much more”

My family visited Holland for 2 weeks at the end of July. We are from the North East of England and travelled by Ferry from Newcastle. The drive from the Ferry to Haarlem was quite easy (using the sat nav) we parked in the multi story car park for a few hours while we unloaded the car, and then my husband found parking for free about 10 minutes walk away. We were happy with this as we didn't intend on using the car during our stay. Instead we used the train. We stayed here for 7 nights before moving on to Center Parcs De Kempervennen for another 7 nights. We choose this accommodation mainly because of its location in Haarlem. The size of the house suited us as a family of four. It was easy to look after and keep tidy, there was enough space on an evening for us all to be together or have time apart. Our 12 year old enjoyed having 'me time' upstairs, and our 7 year old loved the games and puzzles that were available. We cooked all our own meals, and the kitchen provided us with everything we needed. The supermarkets were great, loved the food and the variety. We have kids that can be fussy eaters, but we had no problems finding food they liked. We didn't spend much time inside during the day as we were out site seeing, but when we were there, the weather was so nice we sat outside. Having the washing machine and tumble dryer was wonderful, even though it meant less wardrobe space. This wasn't a problem for us though, we didn't need to bring as many clothes in the first place and I could wash them before we moved on to Centre Parcs. The iron was great too :)

Haarlem is a wonderful place to stay, its very similar to Amsterdam but less crowded/busy and feels cleaner and more up market. The people are very friendly and helpful. My whole family loved Charming House, the beds were comfortable and we all slept really well. Although it was very hot on a night, we had the windows open and there wasn't much noise from outside - or Mozzies.

“Yes charming”
Reviewed July 24, 2016 for a stay in July 2016

This was our third stop for 5 days on our tour round the Netherlands. Unfortunately it was not up to our expectations. We booked this place on checking out the very good reviews. I think it would be ok for a younger couple, but as we are 70 year old. We look for a bit more in comfort. Rudy and Bea were very helpful all the way through the booking, and also with a problem getting the projector started. By the way the buses to the apartment are 2,3, and 73, not 75, and also you do not walk 10metres back the way the bus came. The street the house is on is right at the bus stop. The house is clean and plenty of things to help yourself to for cooking. Everything you need in the area is close by, thank you again

Charming house was as it says in its title very charming and quaint, the house is in a very quiet location and yet not many streets away from great bars, shops, restaurants and coffee shops, and the train and bus links into amsterdam and surrounding areas were within walking distance away. It is very well equipt and like home from home. Rudy and Bea although we never met them were in contact from booking to arriving and even when getting home to make sure our stay was comfortable and that everything was satisfactory, They were great with lots of info and everything you needed to know they were there by email should we have needed anything thank you so much for letting us stay in your lovely home, we will recommend it to our friends and family and hope to be back at some point in the future.

“So-o-o Convenient”
Reviewed May 12, 2016 for a stay in April 2016

Very well outfitted. Kitchen included basic spices, matched cookware, adequate supply of plates, etc. We stayed for 3 weeks. The location is so convenient for the bus from airport, buses to train station, supermarkets, restaurants, florists. Frans Hals museum is practically in the backyard. Stairs are exactly as pictured! Garden in back is perfect for the glass of wine and plate of cheese after a busy day of sightseeing. Visit the French restaurant next door, especially on Weds and Sun for the 10 euro specials.

“Remarkable experience in Haarlem”
Reviewed April 26, 2016 for a stay in April 2016

We planned our 16 day trip to Holland by first booking 6 days at the Charming House in Haarlem and worked backwards from that point to plot the beginning. Our hope in doing this was to ensure that we would be able to use this location as a home base as we tried to replicate what it would be like to live in Holland rather than just holiday there.
Rudy and Bea have provided an awesome gift to travellers who want to have an opportunity to immerse themselves in the vibrant, picturesque, well connected city of Haarlem by opening their home and by providing such clear instructions to maximize the experience. The house is ideally located within Haarlem and Haarlem is ideally located to explore the many attractions including Keukenhof, the Cheese Auction at Alkmaar and the beach activities at Zandvoort a Zee as well as Amsterdam.
The house is tiny but the economical use of space ensures that it is not limiting. The kitchen facilities are modern and complete. The treats we were greeted with in the fridge and in the candy dish were appreciated. The bedroom seems spacious and the bed is comfortable. The bathroom and shower are well designed and very clean. The washer and dryer were particularly appreciated after biking around Holland for the first part of our holiday.
We had a very memorable experience and will be telling stories about our adventure for many years with the Charming House in Haarlem as a highlight. Thanks!

“Home again in Haarlem”
Reviewed April 25, 2016 for a stay in April 2016

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed staying in Rudy and Bea's apartment. We returned to Haarlem, after living here for the past 7 years, to reconnect with friends. We needed a place close to the Grote Markt that would be convenient for all our appointments. This apartment was perfect for us in location and size. The back garden is lovely to relax in while sipping coffee or wine. We will definitely stay here during future visits.

Go to: Bij Babettes (English tearoom/great cakes), Metzo (love the Nicoise salad for lunch), De Kloosterkeuken (in old monastery, reservations needed, limited hours), Sumo Shusi (go at lunch; dinner is not relaxing, seating limited to 2 hours), Applause (yummy soups), Mabrouk (my favorite store for groceries, meat, olives/tapas), St. Bavo (the Christiaan Muller organ is gorgeous, free concerts in summer), Corrie ten Boom (a must!), Frans Hals Museum, Teylers Museum.
