Owner description: The centre for media, culture, fashion, food and crafts with a libary, hotel, cinema, local markt and foodhall. The building where once the first electric trams in Amsterdam were serviced has been granted a new life. In the former tram depot, an official monument built between 1902 and 1928, you now find De Hallen Amsterdam. Right in the middle of the 19th century district Amsterdam West.

I love the foodhallen and the filmhallen here. The food is fantastic, very varied (there are tons of different stalls), and creative, and the cinema plays arthouse films (often from other countries!), but both are a bit pricey (at least about 9 EUR for a decent meal and 11 EUR per person for a movie). I would absolutely recommend you see it once, though, and definitely if you're a tourist.

Individually, the food was all very good but it's all so very hipster, over-priced and the atmosphere is quite bland.

Not so many locals...; stylish but not cozy;
a luxury tourist visit area;
fine food but pricy and not central

De Hallen is a good place to hang out with a massive food hall, a cinema with several screens and cool shops.

Busy food hall with a huge variety of options for food and drinks. Very busy because its good and fun. Dim sum platter was great, Butchers Burger was quality. The challenge is to decide what to eat and share. Good value and great night out with friends.
