This was recommended to us by friend. The building is fantastic and the food was quite good. The portion sizes are massive and we were stuffed to the brim when we left. The staff are friendly and don't hassle you , they just let you get on with your meal. It was decently priced. It would be advisable to book probably thurs-sun it was busy and we went on tuesday evening.

We patronized this restaurant twice during our stay in Amsterdam, both times for lunch. The food is tasty, the portions are plentiful and the staff is great.

In a beautifully converted synagogue midway along Albert Cuyp Market, Bazar is a popular, competitively priced, North African themed restaurant. While we were made welcome by Bazar’s staff, being in our 50’s we sensed that we significantly increased the average age of their customers.

Open all day, Bazar’s menu covers breakfast, lunch & dinner. Food reasonable, but nothing special.

Bazar does not fail to impress anyone visiting for the first time. The colourful and noisy surroundings are impressing. It is a great place to start an evening with friends before going out, or just celebrating anything really. I’ve been here several times over the last 5 years and I do seem to keep coming back.

On my last visit the waitress was not very knowledgeable when I asked her about the special Turkish beer on the menu. Later all beers were brought to our table in a warmish state. Some of the food here is good. The starter of fried pasty with feta cheese and mint is great. My friends had the hummus and they did use the words ‘best ever’ and ‘hummus’ in the same sentence. However, the main courses keep disappointing. The meat unfortunately is generally dry and tasteless. The veal kofta sounds amazing on the menu but is nothing more than a dry hamburger without any interesting flavour. The baked/ fried potatoes served with every meal tend to be soggy instead of crispy. In the vegetarian stew mostly potatoes were used, probably to save costs. However, I have to say the dessert I always have, the Turkish coffee with extras, is great. It’s a sweet and amazing mix of baklava, Turkish dried fruits and other jummy things.

While the atmosphere is great, make sure you do not use the toilets after 9-ish as they get positively disgusting after a while. Also, do not make them seat you upstairs as it gets really really hot up there and all the fun seems to be taking place downstairs.

Overall, a great location for students or people getting ready to go out. Order a collection of their great starters instead of a main meal.

What a fun and delicious meal!! The portions were massive, the prices extremely reasonable, and the food was terrific! The area and decor are very fun! My only complaint is that we were seated upstairs, and despite being in the low 70s outside, it was stifling hot upstairs where we were seated. Downstairs was much more comfortable. I would absolutely encourage you to visit Bazar!!!
