Description: Fifteen restaurant in Amsterdam is an exciting offshoot of Jamie Oliver’s famous Fifteen London, a great example of one set of dynamic, generous people inspiring others to act. In this case, the ‘others’ are Sarriel Taus and Coen Alewijnse who have created this combination restaurant and chef’s school in partnership with Fifteen London to benefit the struggling young people of Amsterdam. So what’s it like at the dining end of the equation? Very cool. The arty cosmopolitan style includes vibrant graffiti-scrawled sheet metal walls contrasting nice with the smart, sleek modern lines, designer seating and white table cloths. The restaurant seats up to 200, yet can still feel right for an dinner a deux. Each night a tasting menu is on offer, inspired by Jamie Oliver incorporating only the freshest regional produce. The modern Italian menu changes weekly and includes one of Jamie’s favourite antipasti to start, a first dish of fresh pasta, gnocchi or risotto, second course of meat, fish, poultry or game, and, we’re quoting here, ‘a wicked dessert’. A wine tasting menu is available to match the food tasting menu, or choose your own from the excellent list.

“Jamie's magic continues in the Netherlands”

Fantastic service and when we asked for something really out of the menu (Vegan food) which was difficult to find in their menu unlike typical restaurants of Jamie, they cooked a great vegan risotto (without any cheese or meat). This is the first time we had such good risotto. The waitress was very open and accommodating. She went out of her way to make our experience a nice a pleasurable one. The olive oil they serve and sell is to die for.....and the organic Pinot Grigio from Italy was a perfect accomplice to the great food. The location is also fantastic and has some great views and sunsets.

“I can't believe Jamie Oliver put his name in this restaurant!”
Reviewed July 16, 2013

This was without a doubt one of the work experiences I've had in a restaurant. The service is terrible, everything takes forever (we had to get up a number of times to get a waiter to serve us) and the waiters are not particularly friendly or knowledgeable. Even if it's a training restaurant, you would expect a waiter to know how to open a bottle of wine, but not here (we had to do it ourselves).
And the food is beyond disappointing: it's difficult to get pasta so wrong. There was no taste and no soul in any dish! And on top of that we got food poisoned...
It was such a disappointment, I can't recommend this restaurant to anybody.

“Not that great”
Reviewed July 11, 2013

If Jamie cooks like they do in this place than I wonder why he is famous. I mean I like the idea behind the place giving young troubled people a chance to work and all, but for what you are charged there you would expect much higher quality standards when it comes to the food.

“Jamie Oliver's restaurant? Really?”
Reviewed July 5, 2013

I was so disappointed with the service there. Walked in, seated, and waited for more than half an hour before someone came to served us. After that, we waited for another half an hour for the food, although the food should be served in 15 minutes (the restaurant is named after JO's 15 minutes recipe after all). The food was DISASTROUS. It was the worst spaghetti I had ever had in my life. Not to expect al dente spaghetti, but it was completely over-cooked and bland. The white sauce given was too little. Terrible service, horrendous food and long waiting time.

“Food was ok - diabolical service”
Reviewed July 1, 2013

The restaurant was booked by a partner company of ours and I spent most of the day waxing lyrical about my experiences in Fifteen London and Cornwall. Having had some of the best food and service in both of those restaurants made this experience all the more painful. It is a very big restaurant but on this night was very quiet. We waited a while to be seated and then a further 15 mins before we received menus. 30 mins after arriving we were able to order drinks after having asked the staff to come and take our orders. The wine was quickly delivered to the table but the beers and soft drinks sat on the island in the bar until we asked for them to bring them up. The waiter brought water to the table and stood next to an empty table looking confused until we suggested that might be our water - he took our order in the first place! The food was slow to come out, we had to ask for the starters to be cleared, We received our main course 2 hours after arriving and had to ask them to take those plates away. They did comp some of the bill but really we would have preferred a good experience. The food when it did come was good but this does by no means make up for the terrible front of house service. My suggestion is to avoid and visit namesakes in UK.
