Description: Fifteen restaurant in Amsterdam is an exciting offshoot of Jamie Oliver’s famous Fifteen London, a great example of one set of dynamic, generous people inspiring others to act. In this case, the ‘others’ are Sarriel Taus and Coen Alewijnse who have created this combination restaurant and chef’s school in partnership with Fifteen London to benefit the struggling young people of Amsterdam. So what’s it like at the dining end of the equation? Very cool. The arty cosmopolitan style includes vibrant graffiti-scrawled sheet metal walls contrasting nice with the smart, sleek modern lines, designer seating and white table cloths. The restaurant seats up to 200, yet can still feel right for an dinner a deux. Each night a tasting menu is on offer, inspired by Jamie Oliver incorporating only the freshest regional produce. The modern Italian menu changes weekly and includes one of Jamie’s favourite antipasti to start, a first dish of fresh pasta, gnocchi or risotto, second course of meat, fish, poultry or game, and, we’re quoting here, ‘a wicked dessert’. A wine tasting menu is available to match the food tasting menu, or choose your own from the excellent list.

“Great atmosphere and very good food”
Reviewed May 24, 2013

We went to Envy for dinner on a Saturday night as a large group of girls. We were sitting at a high table at the back of the restaurant which was perfect. The atmosphere in the restaurant is trendy and bustling and the service was good. The tasting menu was great and the attention to detail in all the dishes was very impressive. The restaurant catered very well for one of our party who is a vegan, and put together some lovely varied dishes for her. I would highly recommend.

“Better choices in Amsterdam”
Reviewed May 17, 2013 via mobile

This was a "big city" type of place with lots of modern decoration and a hip vibe. True, the quality of the ingredients was very high and the preparation done professionally. The portions were quite small as noted by some other reviewers. Wine pours a little on the stingy side. All in all, the place made little impression and could have been in Pittsburgh, Columbus- anywhere really. In fairness to the restaurant, they don't portray themselves as any sort of true Amsterdam experience and it certainly is not that. We were 2 people and at nearly 100 euros for 3 small plates each with a glass of wine and a cocktail, it seemed expensive to me. I'd probably take a pass on Envy next time.

“Small plates, I mean really small”
Reviewed May 13, 2013

The food was good but not great. It was a small plate format but frankly the plates were almost to small to share.
Very dark but pleasant room.
Good wine list at decent price points.
The Dutch sausage to start was great also had the lamb which was nice.
A good experience and although not perfect overall was good.

“not recommendable for lunch”
Reviewed May 11, 2013

The menu looks good, indicating that you can order envy's delicacies for lunch. However, (almost) none of the dishes on the website's menu comes back on the current lunch menu. It's quite disappoining when you can only order cold dishes and the only warm dish is too small to stop starving. We had BTL and burrata, decent, but noting surprising and nothing we had hoped for.
