Had a fantastic weiss beer IPA and some delicious croquettes with a colleague on a sunday night. Nice location by a canal with a big patio. Just what we needed.

On a pedestrian bridge so provides far more out door seating than the average place. Think this really is driving factor to it being so busy as the drink is just ok.

Wine plonked down in a tumbler and slightly warm so had to ask for some ice.

Beware - you also can’t easily share a table. Be ready to offer to pay cash on ordering!

We mainly stopped to take in the view and have a beer and wine whilst sitting in the middle of the bridge that crossed the Singel Canal on a cold afternoon.
It was very pleasant.

During a sunny, frankly, boozy afternoon, my wife and I were after some substantial food to soak up the alcohol.

We decided to venture into part of the city we hadn't yet explored and found Cafe van Zuylen. As it was a hot day the front of the restaurant opened up to give it a nice airy feel. Because it was a lovely day, there was no seating available outside as it was quite busy so we went inside.

As they had the windows wide open it felt like we were outside anyway and Cafe van Zuylen has a nice 'al-fresco' feel on a hot day.

We ordered some burgers and while waiting were entertained by what we can only assume was the friendly resident cat!

We're not usually into burgers and eat them infrequently, but we were impressed. Yes, they were a bit pricey, but in this city, we came to accept that.

Recommended and would return.

Van Zuylen have a very attractive terrace on the bridge over the Singel canal. Unique! Service is friendly. But 14 Euros for a small basket of fried snacks is excessively overpriced even to Amsterdam big city standards.
