We went to gay-friendly Getto during our recent family trip to Amsterdam. Our son, as a 10 year old, is getting to that pre-teen age, so we had an interesting experience explaining some of the things we saw on the walk there to the edge of the red light district. Then again, we knew exactly what we were getting into. The staff at Getto couldn't have been more welcoming to us, and we were not the only family with chidren there. Mixed in with us were tables of couples on dates and small groups. The hamburgers are gourmet style and truly first rate. Made to order with highest quality ingredients. Very filling for the money and a great way to experience the "live and let live" attitude of Amsterdam. Note: we did not ask but the staff changed the movie projected onto the wall of the dining room from something with men in G strings to Muppet Christmas. We thought that was very cute. Unnecessary, but very thoughtful.
