This restaurant is popular with locals (always a good sign); we hadn't booked but they found us a table an hour later. It's on a quiet part of Herengracht away from the rather more raucous areas. The atmosphere is very laid back and the staff were very cheery and helpful. The food is excellent with good ingredients and beautifully cooked and presented - I had a guinea fowl starter and haddock as a main course and these were moist and well seasoned. My other half had the asparagus which she said was lovely. There's a nice take on accompanying vegetables too. Finished off with a lemon tart with ice cream which was delicious. The whole came to 99 Euros which was good value. Wine by the glass is expensive though- a bottle is better value which I avoided only because there's a canal next door. Would definitely go again and certainly recommend it.

As a first experience in a dutch restaurant we have been quite disappointed. The restaurant is well located along a charming canal. Our table, in the back was facing a messy courtyard full of junk where you can see from time to time the chef smoking. It took them more than 3 hours to serve us 3 courses, including only a main course that had to be "cooked" (i.e. not ready in advance). The chef obviously loves salsify as they are in most dishes. Produces are all very fresh but nothing but average courses. Wine list is limited and super-expensive (3 wine less than 40 €, most wines 65-150 €. Service is super slow and except for a waitress, everybody is obnoxious and with a superior attitude unusual within dutch people.

We rated our meal here as 12/10. It was fantastic. It was the most expensive meal we have ever had. A glass of champagne each and a bottle of wine with our meal and the bill came to 185.50 Eros. It was a really special occasion and really memorable. We were given a seat by the window, looking out over the canal where we watched the sun set and the boats go by. The service was relaxed and calm and perfect for the occasion. I think I would be scared to go back in case it didn't live up to the fantastic evening we have had and ruin the wonderful memory. The food and artistry of the presentation was outstanding.

Had dinner with friends there. Not very enthousiastic unfortunately. Starter with mackerel was ok but not special. Main. Course veal was not tender at all and hard to cut and too eat. Below what could be expected. Desert, a Stilton cheese was ok but nothing special. Altogethether nothing special and too expensive. A housewine for € 30 is ridiculous and very much overprized and hardly acceptable.
Service was functional but unpersonal and not much friendly. Wonder how long this can go on....

We went to eat in this restaurant because we got a Groupon voucher and I have to say that we very happily surprised. The food is really tasty and very well presented and the dishes in the menu are not the usual ones. Also the list of wines is quite big. The service is not really fast, true, but it is in line with the type of dining: it's a great place if you want to relax and spend some time there, eat good food while enjoying a nice glass of wine. Prices are quite high, but the food is worth the money you pay.The location is also great, since it is in a street in front of one of the main canals.
