Description: The Pantry Imagine a restaurant version of the successful TV show I Love Holland, and that is what The Pantry is like. This cosy restaurant near the Leidseplein distinguishes itself with its typically Dutch atmosphere and traditional old-Dutch dishes. Hospitality is important. The staff understands the dining and hospitality business and have worked here for years, during which the recognition of this restaurant has been ever increasing. The Dutch living room atmosphere is enhanced by the use of lampshades, Delftware and old paintings on the wall, complemented by the background music. The Pantry works exclusively with fresh, homemade products. Its location in the Leidseplein neighbourhood makes this an ideal restaurant to eat before catching a theatre show or movie. The doors open from eleven in the morning, so it's also a great place to go for lunch

The concierge at the Marriott was able to get a reservation for 6 at 8pm on a Friday night with only 2 hours notice. This was classic dutch food. Small cozy place, small menu but great food. The staff was also very friendly. Very close walk to many things in Leidsoplein.

This restaurant was recommended to us by the hotel valet, it did not disappoint. It was really busy but at no point did we feel the service was affected. The waiter we had was friendly, knowledgable and (thankfully) spoke perfect English. The wine list was not great but the food was really lovely, between us we had the combination of fish, a steak, a beef stew and a combination hutspot, all were perfectly cooked.
I really enjoyed eating here, they were kid friendly too.

The food was as warm as the welcome.
With temperature at zero outside the traditional comfort food was well received. These are hearty meals and if you are staying a few days then you must sample the traditional as well as the fine dining elsewhere in Amsterdam.

We continue to enjoy the food and friendliness here after visiting it for 10 years. You won't find a gourmet menu, but you find authentic choices in four set menus or a variety of individual items. My wife and I always start with house red wine and the smoked eel. This time I chose a set menu with pea soup, a meatball and mashed potatoes, and yogurt desert. Almost like Grandma used to make! My wife had salad, fries, and the largest Dutch ham-on-the-bone portion we had ever seen. It took extra time to prepare but was well worth it. After Italian coffees, the waiter brought us an "apple pie" dessert drink to top our meal off. The service has been consistently friendly and efficient on each visit. The seating is tight, but we have learned to arrive early to get a good table.

My wife wanted to try "real Dutch food", based on the reviews we decided to try The Pantry. So glad we did. Even though we didn't have reservations, they split 2 tables to accommodate us. The food was outstanding, we both chose the 4 course dinner option. The cheese fondue at the next table looked wonderful, we will try that next trip. Our waiter was friendly and outgoing,

Great location, small so call ahead for a seat, this is a popular place, they must be doing something right!
