“Pretty good”
Reviewed August 31, 2013 via mobile

Quite good thai good, unexpectedly so for the area. Pretty good value, good service and really quick. Pad Krapau wasn't with actual holy basil, but that's to be expected. Surprisingly good Thai for Europe, give it a go.

“Unexpectedly amazing!”
Reviewed August 29, 2013

We decided on a whim to trawl the RLD one evening as we were in Amsterdam after all. As our hunger grew we decided to flick through the guide books and both mentioned this little Thai place so we decided to try it our. The snack bar/take away over the road with the same name was crammed and had a huge queue out the door so we went for the restaurant. As we were hungry we went for the set meal B at 27 euros. We were allowed a substitution to the starter as I have an allergy to crab. The spring rolls were lovely and there were loads of them!!! The soup that followed was full of coconut and spice flavours, a hint of lemon grass and lime and lashings of chicken - one of the best soups I have tasted!!
The 3 mains of sweet and sour fish (better than it sounds), stir fried veg dish with cashews and a lovely thai red chicken curry were very very good. Lashings of vegetables and meat in them and very tasty. We were also served a huge tureen of boiled rice and a platter of gorgeous noodles.
Drinks were reasonable at 3 euros a Heineken with imported Thai beers for 4 euros. Service was very quick and friendly unlike most other places in Amsterdam.
A definite choice to revisit should we ever be in this part of town again.

“First time in Thailand: Amsterdam!”
Reviewed August 27, 2013

Busy, busy. Always a good sign. Worthwile every minute you will have to wait before getting seated. Queuing on the Zeedijk, years ago a no-go area. No reservations.
A very rich choice of meals from different parts of Thailand. Very tasty food, well presented.
No hurry whatsoever. Try the duck specialities from north east Thailand.

“Authentic Thai flavours in old Amsterdam”
Reviewed August 26, 2013

Having lived in Thailand for several years I am frequently disappointed in European Thai restaurants. Not so here. We had to queue for 30 minutes for a table, but were promptly served and had a very enjoyable meal. It is difficult to get green papaya here, so the classic somtam is not usually on offer, but they did a very good version here using green mango instead. The green curry had great flavour and intensity, the beef salad a dlightful zesty tang, and the huge dish of fragrant rice was indeed fragrant. The price was less than 100 Euro for three hungry men, with drinks. Not bad at all.
Yep, a good experience, and I would go again.
