Service: very good.
Decor: very good. Nice photo art on the wall. On a quiet block with a pleasant view. Clean restaurant with ample spacing.
Food: very good.
Price: Average for the area and quality food. Dinner for two with drinks was around 50-60 Euro.

“Marco's welcome”
Reviewed August 14, 2013

Beata and I chose Sluizer on the basis of the excellent reviews of its food, particularly fish - and we were not disappointed. What made the meal even more memorable, however, was the personal attention and hospitality offered by Marco and his staff. We felt like old friends, being treated to one of the best meals we had ever had, and not mere tourists.

“Wonderful food and service!”
Reviewed August 7, 2013

Sluizer in Utrechtsestraat is very close to the Rembrandtsplein but is a world away from the loud touristy bars and dingy looking grill rooms in that area. It's known for fish although there are meat and veggie choices. The owner and his team are friendly and helpful, taking pride in seeing us enjoy our meal.
The menu's on their website so have a look. It may be a little more expensive than the normal tourist places but it's friendly and welcoming so clean casual clothes are fine. The price difference is well worth it too as the food is interesting, tasty and expertly cooked and presented.

“16 july 20136”
Reviewed July 16, 2013

Just back from 4 days in Amsterdam, most impressed with refurbished Rijksmuseum and even more with superb van Goch museum. But the highlight was a restaurant, the Sluizer, at Utrechtstraat 41-45 just off the Rembrantsplein. Run personally by the proprietor, Marco, there is a warm welcome from him and his staff. Outstanding food, especially fish. Try the turbot, and for a dessert you won' forget the white chocolate parfait. Not cheap but nor is it outrageously expensive. Turns a great meal into a memorable experience.t
