Description: Rain bar, restaurant and club in Amsterdam’s most active café-and-nightlife neighborhood has been hot, hot, hot ever since it opened in 2005. Everything about it gets rave reviews: the menu, the bar, the club, the restaurant and the terrace, oh, and the genuine friendliness of the staff. Décor is tastefully modern with dark wood, leather seating, lilac and violet touches. The ground floor bar and Comfortable Dining Area morph into a club around eleven or so (weekend closing is 4am). The upstairs dining room is also tastefully modern. The truly inventive food is global fusion, like starter of pressing of wild duck and seasonal mushrooms with winter plum and chilli compote, crisp duck salad, foie gras lollipop and balsamic syrup, seemingly-simple main of burger becomes a Wagyu burger (birth certificate available on request) on hazelnut brioche with onion confit, sautéed foie gras, fried duck egg, hand cut chips and home made ketchup. Everything is made fresh here, from the bread to the famous ice creams. Up to 250 can take over the venue. There are three daily changing menus, 4- and 6-course tasting menus and an 8-course gourmet menu. Rain’s philosophy includes delight, refreshment and inspiration, and the hip, affluent crowd who gathers here seems to agree.

“Nice atmosphere, but get a table at the back left-hand side.”
Reviewed January 15, 2013

Was skeptical about this restaurant as it is located in one the busiest districts in Amsterdam; Rembrandtplein. However, the atmosphere was very relaxed and calm, with dim lights, dark walls and candles makes it a very cozy place to chat. There's a DJ that played some nice low level beats with a nice smooth tempo. The food was better than expectations but nothing near a 3* restaurant. The service was prompt although our table was still dirty from the previous guests. All in all, I'd go back but this time I'd get a table at the back left-hand side. It's away from the kicthen and bathrooms, plus the corner is nice and private.

“NYE 2012/2013”
Reviewed January 1, 2013 via mobile

Came here for the clib night. The music was on point. The dj span tune after tune, remix after remix. The atmosphere was really nice, no tension, loads of room.

Only problem was the smoking area basically was one corner of the upstairs floor and so air was heavy and hung if you were nearby.

“Nice atmosphere and tasty food in one of the busiest streets of city center”
Reviewed December 30, 2012 via mobile

I quite appreciated the look and the ambiance of this restaurant: we were surrounded by good and relaxed background music and friendly & professional service. Vegetarian dish is remarkable, while the chicken dishes are acceptable. You can also spend your IAmsterdam card vouchers to get a fair discount (25%) on the bill. I definitely recommend it.

“very good”
Reviewed December 14, 2012

I had good experience with this restaurant. Very good meal, staff was friendly and the vegetarian dish is excellent. Maybe the prices are a bit to high, but I try to put this on the location.
