Description: Pasta e Basta restaurant nearly opposite the Rijksmuseum has a name that simply doesn’t do it justice. It means ‘pasta full stop’ but really should trumpet the singing accomplishments and mad party atmosphere that the waiters and waitresses deliver. The dining room is splendid, with scarlet-covered chairs, flouncy wall sconces, dramatic drapes and fine art, while the bar area is more modern but just as operatic. The wait staff really truly can sing, everything from Billy Joel to grand opera, and they get the joint jumping. The long tables attract hens and big groups and the small cosy niches and bar are right for more intimate numbers, and it is just one fantastic evening. The menu is Italian, incorporating excellently-sourced meat, fish and veg. Anti pasti are served buffet-style from a chilled grand piano. Main courses always include eight pasta dishes like spaghetti with squid ragout, lasagne bolognaise with tapenade and sage, and penne with radicchio and goats cheese. International wine list matches the international musical programme. Groups are so welcome, and the entire venue seats 110.

“Dinner and SInging - Fabulous”

Our concierge recommended this restaurant. The wait staff sings while you eat a lovely gourmet meal. The songs ranged from opera to current pop and everything in between. Lots of fun and delicious food. I highly recommend!

“Fantastic entertainment and food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 22, 2013

I visited Pasta e Basta with some friends, one had been previously and wanted to take us, although she didn't share the secret when we walked in. Quite a shock when we walked in to find two of the waitresses singing and a grand piano in the corner. This is far more than a restaurant - it's a whole evening's entertainment. The piano doubles up somehow as a buffet for ante pasta and there is background music provided by a very talented and friendly pianist. The waiting staff are clearly very talented and come from a variety of vocal training. Food was amazing and atmosphere is superb. The restaurant manages to retain a sense of intimacy whilst being very much a stage for the entertainment. One comment, it is quite pricy but in my opinion not bad value, when you consider the whole package of entertainment.

“A very pleasant evening!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 17, 2013

My daughter and I spent a very pleasant evening dinning at Pasta e Basta. The food was quite good, the staff was very friendly and very talented! They all took turns in singing during the evening and made our overall experience a very pleasant one! Located in a nice district with lots of antique shops around.

“Pasta e Basta for 125 people? EASY!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 27, 2013

Together with 120 colleagues, we dined in this very nice restaurant in Amsterdam. Coming from all of the world, the colleagues were very much suprised when the waiters started singing. Of course, I didn't tell them forehand. The ambiance was wonderfull and the food was very nice and also plenty. As a group we had a lot of food preferences and still the team managed to satisfy the entire group.

Thank you very much for the pleasant experience and I hope to be back with another group in the future. This restaurant is easy to recommend, because it's really nice!
