Dynasty came highly recommended by a friend who is a regular visitor to Amsterdam ... We would not normally choose a Chinese / Asian restaurant, but were delighted we did on this occasion.
The only real grumble we had was they appeared to have lost the reservation we made (and was confirmed) online. It seemed clear that (for the weekend at least) booking is essential. My sense was if we did not have access to the email confirmation via the Iphone, we would have been looking for somewhere else to eat. In the event, because we had the email, everything worked out.
The restaurant was very busy ... and coped well with it ... which is not always the case. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable.
We had the Sawadee starter and loved each item, except perhaps the dim-sum - but that is probably personal preferences, rather than anything amiss with the food or its preparation.
For the main course I had the 3 Meat Symphony (or some such title) ... beef, chicken and prawns ... absolutely delicious. The dish was subtly spiced - with emphasis on subtle - as well as tasting the spices, you can taste the beef, chicken and prawn ... which is more often not the case. Further there was no 'after-taste' - later in the evening or the next day - which we typically expect from Chinese / Asian food.
My wife had the crispy duck ... it was tasty, properly cooked (not at all dry, but still with a crispy skin).
We shared portions of the fried noodles and the fried rice with pineapple and cashew nuts ... we would both return just for the noodles and the rise!
For dessert we shared the fruit and sorbet ...
By the way the portions are very generous ...
A really, really good meal deserving of the excellent rating, which has to be interpreted in the context of what is promised, what it costs and what is delivered. When travelling in Europe we would not normally eat in a Chinese / Asian restaurant but Dynasty has kindled our interest to try again ...
