Description: Restaurant De Belhamel is located at the junction of two of Amsterdam’s most beautiful canals, the Brouwersgracht (“Brewers’ canal”) and the Herengracht (“Gentlemen’s canal”). It is one of the city’s prettiest spots, quietly situated at the edge of the Jordaan area and offering splendid views on both canals. In summer lunch and dinner are served outside in these lovely surroundings. Not only the location, also the restaurant’s interior is unique: the venue is entirely decorated in the early 20th century Art-Nouveau style, with many original details. The restaurant and entresol give a view over the canals, the bar offers a fine opportunity to enjoy an aperitif before dinner. From 2007 onwards Michelin has rewarded De Belhamel with a ‘Bib Gourmand’.We are looking forward to welcoming you at De Belhamel.

“A lovely spot for a romantic dinner”
Reviewed September 23, 2013

This restaurant was fantastic - great food lovely service. It sits on a quiet stretch of canals but very picturesque. we were lucky that we had hot weather this Sept in Amsterdam so were able to sit outside on the tables over looking the canals. But the inside is also very beautiful and charming

Def a romantic spot and would go back again and again. Seems very much patronized by the locals which is a good thing and not touristy at all which was a plus. On a quite stretch of canals but if you need to get to all the buzzing action its a very quick walk from there.

The staff are very attentive and extremely friendly . Everything we ate was delicious - very seasonal simple yet inventive with great local touches.

Would thoroughly recommend it.

“A lovely meal overlooking the canal.”
Reviewed September 18, 2013

By booking in advance we were able to sit at one of the restaurant's tables right by a canal junction, with a fantastic view in the evening light. The food was good too.

“This should be top ten for view, menu and service”
Reviewed September 17, 2013

My husband and I shared a romantic dinner canalside in late June at De Belhamel. The neighborhood is quiet but there is enough movement for people watching and we were perched overlooking the canal, easily viewing the boat traffic on a small (quiet) canal. Food was delightful. The service was cheerful and prompt. I advise you make reservations as the place is small and fills up on weekends.

“Should have ** stars. Great food.”

The best two meas after a week in Amsterdam, and better than any in several trip to Belgium.
Not fancy, can be loud, but the food is wonderful. Good wine, even at the house wine level. Interesting, varied food. Two starters will be enough for many, as is the case so often in this city, the portions are large. Excellent service. 50 to 60 euros a person will be ample.

“Delightful meal...probably the best meal of our trip!”
Reviewed September 11, 2013

It was the end of a long day, lots of walking and we certainly weren't dressed to go out to dinner. It was just by chance that we took a left instead of a right and saw this restaurant. It was around 7pm and the waiter told us that they were booked & asked if we had reservations. We thought that we they were going to turn us away (especially because of our "hiking attire"). Surprisingly they found a small table for 2 & we were in. As we were being seated a couple sitting across from us told us that this is their favorite place and we would be impressed...and we were! I ordered a salad w/eggplant rattatouille and the seafood appetizer. The salad was large and very flavorful and the seafood plate had lobster, shrimp salad, ahi tuna and more. For dessert we shared the lightest, like air-cheesecake. After a week in Amsterdam and we find this place on our last night..and it was right around the corner from the Barangay B&B where we were staying! Definitely go...make reservations..or ....
