Description: Jean-Joël Bonsens and Ellen Mansfield have owned the Christophe op de Leliegracht restaurant since 1st January 2006. The restaurant has a French-Mediterranean cuisine, with an extensive and fitting wine list. The interior is cosmopolitan, with a separate room for a maximum of 12 people. The menu changes in line with the seasons. There are two set menus in addition to the a la carte menu, respectively priced at ?46 and ?66. The specialities are terrine of duck liver marinated in Jurançon wine and a ragout of sea lobster with cocoa beans.

We chose Christophe after reading some good reviews and literally walking right by it while walking to our hotel after a day of sightseeing. Christophe offers several menu options in addition to ordering a la carte - a simple, three course dinner for €35 and a more elaborate four course menu for €66 though you can select thee courses for €56. We decided to select three courses off of the larger menu and were not disappointed.

We started with two pairs of amuse bouches which were excellent. The appetizer (only one option is available) was excellent, arguable the best dish of the meal - tartine with langoustine and avocado togther with a small salad. It was wonderfully fresh, flavorful and nicely garnished.

The menu had two main course selections - filet of monk fish and leg of lamb. Both dishes were excellent though the portions were on the small side. Again, the food was nicely prepared and presented.

The dessert was roasted apricots with an almond cake and rosemary ice cream. It was refreshingly light and a nice way to finish off dinner.

Service was excellent and the dining room a very nice setting. However, there was only one other table of diners which meant it was a somewhat lonely and quiet experience. Notwithstanding this, I would highly recommend dining at Christophe.

Well, It's a good place, good atmsosphere. If you have a meeting or you got a friend or fiance to go to a nice place and be together for a while in a nice place — come here. It sure is a nice place, but if you come alone, like me, it might not be the best choice.

The concierge at the Hotel Pulitzer recommended this restaurant and it was superb in every way. The food was excellent but was matched by the service. Each of the 6 courses we had was an experience in itself. The choices of cheese before dessert just really capped off a wonderful meal. Four hours later with the candle just about at its end, we knew we had one of the best meals we have ever eaten.

My husband had the mesclun salad and the pork entree and both were very good.
I had the endive and watercress salad, wanted the sea bass, but they did not have it. Ended up with salmon in its place. Both also very good. Very well prepared food, nice presentation (except for the trendy foam, truly not a good trend, looks like spit) and attentive service. Overall a good dinner.
Cheers.

Christophe is a tastefully appointed restaurant that offers beautifully prepared dishes that are as pleasing to eat as they are to look at. The staff is as it should be: friendly and competent, but not overbearing. We were able to carry on a conversation in normal tones. We'll not hesitate to return when we revisit Amsterdam.
