My girlfriend is from Chicago and every-time she visits Amsterdam we have a nice dinner at this wonderful hidden-gem. This was our 3rd time eating here and we keep returning for their wonderful sushi.
The atmosphere is amazing and the service is very nice. We arrived 30 minutes too early (18:00 instead of 18:30) and the restaurant started to fill up. It was not a problem that we arrived earlier and we were taken to a table close to the kitchen. The table we had was quite close to another table, with barely any space between them. A few minutes after we arrived another couple was sat at that table. Now, at first you might find this uncomfortable, but the atmosphere, the sounds and the semi-open kitchen make you not even realise this!
Food: If you go for sushi, you will not be disappointed! Very limited amount of options, which allows the restaurant to keep up their great quality. The salmon is to die for. It is the freshest and most tastiest salmon ever. Try the Aburi Salmon Nigiri Sushi for a nice little surprise at your table. It is delicious.
Service: Young vibrant team. When we asked to be seated earlier it was not a problem. When asking for advice - Rens was there to help us. Rens did a great job and he is definitely an asset for the restaurant's service team as he is helpful, friendly, attentive and very professional.
Location: Only a small stroll (6-8 minutes) down the Utrechtsestraat from the Rembrandtplein, this restaurant is very easily reached. It is just far enough from the Rembrandtplein to not making stupid touristy deals to try and attract any. This is still quite a hidden gem in Amsterdam at a Triple-A location due to them not excessively promoting their restaurant. They are quite hidden so keep your eyes peeled when finding them.
We will definitely be back at Ku Kitchen & Bar. Highly recommended!
