“You need to be tall enough to take the flavor test”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 23, 2014

This gin museum is across from the Van Gogh Museum, and we went after reading some positive reviews. It gives you the history of Bols gin and has an interactive room with 38 atomizers containing the flavorings that might be added to a gin. Unfortunately for me, the Dutch are the tallest people in the world and I am not. All the atomizers were above my head, so I couldn't smell anything.

Part of your pricey 15 euro admission is given back to you in the form of a classic cocktail that you can choose (very nice) and 2 shots of different gins you can select from a long list. There are lots of young people there, and a bar atmosphere with loud music.

The place is definitely not accessible and the staff were not very accommodating to one of my companions who had recent knee surgery. She had to climb up and down the steep stairs to the basement, where the displays are, though I thought I saw an elevator that they denied having.

Do yourself a favor and have a nice drink or two in one of the outdoor cafes with the money you might spend on this advert for the Bols empire.

“Very Unique and Fun Experience!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 23, 2014

I went here on recommendation of a colleague at work and was so glad I did. The experience was very fun and definitely unique compared to other attractions in Amsterdam. The cocktail sampling and smelling of different scents that affect your taste was super interesting. The bartenders here are fun, knowledgable and make the entire experience worthwhile. A must do while in Amsterdam!

“Really fun and interesting!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2014

The whole experience was a blast, but I came away having learned some new things as well. The two flair bartenders at the end of the tour were very entertaining and rather funny. A really great way to have spent an afternoon.

“You can't beat a museum that includes cocktails”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 19, 2014

This felt like a hidden gem, visiting in the middle of July yet there was probably a maximum of 30 people visiting at the same time as us. It was great had the opportunity to smell all of the amazing samples available. By far the best part in the complementary cocktail and shots at the end.
