“jewel little museum”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 1, 2014

A jewel of a little museum that we stumble upon walking along the canals. Very well presented, just not enough modern bags.
Don't miss the afternoon tea in the reception room of the house, brings you to another era.

“Topnotch, a real delight!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 26, 2014

I just love the Handbag museum in AMS! Believe it's the only one of its kind. It's totally charming. This time there was an exposition of fans as well, sporting company logos. First form of advertisement? Have a look! We had High Tea overlooking the Herengracht. Bliss!

“A Real Gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 19, 2014

I thoroughly enjoyed this museum. The collection spans over 400 years, the Barbies displayed in celebration of her 50th anniversary in The Netherlands were beautifully displayed and fun to look at, and the temporary exhibit of fans was unusual and interesting. The building itself, with its two formal rooms with magnificent fireplaces, sumptuous wall papers and ceiling paintings were extra special. High tea is served there and I will be certain to look into that next time. The shop also had some stylish handbags and a catalogue raisonne for only 15 euro. As an artist and quilter, I found it an inspiring place to visit.

“A Little Gem in Amsterdam”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 12, 2014

Located in a magnificant renovated canal house, in the center of Amsterdam, this museum of bags is the place to go after you have visited the Van Gogh Museum, the Rijksmuseum, or other famous attractions. A beautiful location, just a few minutes walk from the Rembrandtsplein and very near to the Utrechtsestraat (shopping/dining area). It's not only the amazing collection of bags, from the 17th century until today, also the interior of the canal house is worthwhile to pay attention to. The collection changes now and then, as they have more bags in depot. Besides this core collection, they have temporarily exhibitions; currently (Feb 2014) they have 50 Barbie dolls on display, until May 2014, as well as a collection of french advertising fans, until March 2014. The cafe is in style; you can have your high tea here. There is also a museum shop. All in all, really worthwhile a visit. The museum is not that big, expect to spend around 90 minutes, of course depending on your pace.

“My wife loved it”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 11, 2014

My wife just loves hand bags so i was under orders to visit this place, quite expensive entrance fee 9 euros each which both me and my wife was a bit on the high side to be honest. There is a lot of history here and some very unique items,it's not a massive place and half an hour will be enough. There is a tea room there also a Barbie collection which was good.I was the only man in there,my wife said give it a five,me i would give it a three.
