I loved this museum, was much more than what I expected it would be, gives you a nice insight into the history of bags and purses, and at the end of your visit you begin to understand that bag is not just a bag..but far more :)

And I do. It's not that big but it has a handbags and purses from far back. The handiwork, the different materials, the shapes and forms show that imagination has no boundaries. From the bizarre to cute and must-haves.

This little out of the way museum was just delightful.
Set in a splendid old house, so well organised and set out, with fascinating exhibits, and a lovely temporary exhibition of school bags.
The cafe was just gorgeous, overlooking a very pretty garden.
The staff were helpful cheerful and efficient.
It was one of the nicest museums I have visited

I read about the reviews on Trip Advisor and having a love for bags I had to visit. The museum is located near Rembrandtplein and the entry fee was €9. Its not a big museum and can be done in less than 45minutes if you decide to read all the useful facts on the walls. There is a wide range of original bags, dating back to the 1400's. The way the museum is laid out is very well executed from the early ages of the purpose of the bags and the material they were made out of. The venue was immaculate, toilets were spotless, the staff were friendly and there is also a lift in the building. This museum is such a fascinating place and every girl that loves bags must check this out.

This is an interesting museum to visit and will only take you about half an hour to go through. After the crowds and lines at the other large museums in Amsterdam it was a pleasant surprise to wander through this converted canal house and learn about the history of bags throughout history. They have some wonderful current designer bags on display too.
