My wife loved this museum. Purses and handbags throughout the ages. A lovely little museum. Very friendly staff. Some very interesting exhibits and a very nice restaurant and gift shop.

Well cared for exhibition and building with absolutely beautiful rooms for tea, coffee and cake etc. as it is a privately owned house. Helpful ladies assisting.
Good WC facilities and cloakroom with lockers.
Well-equipped gift shop with cards and products (bag-related) for Entry nale.
Not too cheap (€9).
The exhibits themselves were well displayed, on several floors, with a fair amount of information, also in English, on the bags - dating back many centuries, including what they carried, what they were made of etc.
Currently temporary exhibition on Dutch schoolbags (out of wood!) and all painted differently.

My sister had a ball, I thought it was going to be boring but was pleasantly surprised. Special exhibitions, everything from the 17th century to modern designer bags. And some worn by presidents wives, madonna, all sorts.

Visited this place because it offered free entrance to those holding the Amsterdam Museum Card. Plus it is walking distance from the Museum Willet-Holthuysen. It was a charming place with a large collection of you guessed it Bags and Purses. I loved the cafe at the museum because it was absolutely enchanting. They also display shoes and hats. If you only have 1 or 2 days in Amsterdam I would not recommend spending it here.

It was very nice to see how small 'purses' used to be and how they've evolved since the 1600's. The materials used to make some are now illegal and the way some of them were used was almost unbelievable. There was a coupon for this museum at our hotel. The location is very non-descript so make sure you have a street map to be able to find it. We almost walked past it
