“More than Just Bags!”
Reviewed March 15, 2013

Gotta say, I was a little underwhelmed at the idea of going here, but I have to admit. It's a very well presented museum, and you will leave much more educated in the ways of function dictates form/design, especially when it comes to your purses, wallets, handbags, suitcases, trucks, etc. Very entertaining, very nice folks working here.

“Afternoon tea in beautiful surroundings”
Reviewed March 15, 2013

Fun to take afternoon tea in this museum. The rooms are restored beautifully and the selection and quality of items on offer were good. There's a complete deal on afternoon tea which after visiting the museum is a perfect way to relax and enjoy the visit.

“interesting museum even if you're not passionate about handbags”
Reviewed March 6, 2013

This was an unusual and interesting museum showcasing bags dating back to the 16th century. The first part of the museum is devoted to the historic bags and is very interesting and informative. This part could appeal to someone just interested in history, not necessarily handbags. the second part is focused on more modern bags; this also includes certain iconic bags. The last part of the collection is the temporary exhibit. The museum also has a small gift shop and nice cafe with free wifi.

“Not just for the ladies.”
Reviewed March 6, 2013

Wow. I was very impressed with this little museum at the Golden Bend area of the Herengracht.
I thought i would only see all those handbags, but it is actually more than that.
It is actuallly a museum about everything that allows you to easily carry things, e.g. coins, paper money, clothes ( a whole wardrobe for that matter ). It gives you a great idea how it all started from the earliest times to the middle ages to the great leisure cruise ( 1900x ) time, to modern baggages, check-in, hand-carry and back to the luxury cruises of today.
I ended up my visit with a high tea in a room with a grand view of the Herengracht and surrounded by renaissance paintings. Mind you, these paintings were not on canvasses but painted on the walls and ceilings of these great house.
A must see, and just for the ladies indeed.... he hehe he.
