Almost didn't go in as I'm not that intrested in handbags. But was so glad I did! You are advised to start at the top of this lovely old restored canal townhouse, and so I went up.. but passing the cafe stopped for coffee and a pastry overlooking a secluded garden. The museum proper begins with a survey of handbags when they were uni-sex so to speak and continues through the years with amazing examples of handcraft and design. The exhibition ends near a nice shop with wallets, handbags and accessories that would make good gifts from Amsterdam. When I was there other visitors included men and children as well as women, and all seemed absorbed in the displays. Well worth a visit
