We booked the Hotel Y Boulevard in Amsterdam for three nights last month but had to leave the place immediately after checking into one and later saw two other rooms offered. The place was filty and without an elevator. The looby sofas were so old that the fiber was pilling and leaving a hole. There was no closet or any place to hang clothes in any of the rooms. The room we first checked into had no TV, both window curtain rods were broken and hanging off the ceiling, the bathroom door had a hole and the room door only had a piece of tape on it indicating the room number. There was no closet or any place to hang clothes in any of the rooms. The staircases to all the rooms were narrow and steep that are extremely bad particularly for people with walking difficulties. The stairs were so badly constructed and dispersed that will definitely create a hazard for everyone in case of emergency. The place is far far below any safety and hotel standards!

It is hard to balance a review with positive and negative comments - I can only say that this hotel (and I use the term lightly) is a disgrace.

The management here set themselves extremely low targets - which they constantly achieve.

The building is run down and dirty, the paintings on the walls are ripped or damaged as is the wallpaper, the ceilings are filthy and covered in cobwebs, the banisters broken, the carpets threadbare (as is the furniture). The hotel toilets were broken and in a state of disrepair. The bar was not open - and if it was you wouldn't use it.

The continental breakfast wasn't ! a choice of cardboard flakes or muesli, toast, cheese ham, boiled eggs and chocolate spread - this does not (in my book) constitute a continental breakfast!
The stairs to the rooms on the upper floor were at a very steep angle and narrow, and quite difficult to navigate, there is no lift at this hotel.

The rooms were absolutely terrible, There was no wardrobe ! no hangers, nowhere at all to hang clothes. There was a curtain missing which meant you could not block out the morning light or have an afternoon nap. There was no double glazing and as I was based at the front on a busy main road sleep was very hard to come by. The walls were covered in marks and there was a large hole in the wall, the electrical sockets were damaged. The bathroom was barely functional, the toilet was so close to the wall I could only sit on it sideways - (however my friends bathroom was much bigger). There was no headboard on what was the smallest single bed I had ever slept on.

I fully appreciate that this is advertised as a budget hotel but at £120 per night it doesn't provide the basic acceptable standards of cleanliness, hygiene and comfort. I would strongly advise people to look for something else - this hotel is just dreadful !

Oh - I forgot to mention the positives; it's close to the rail station and er, um..........................

35 yrs ago I stayed in Hotel Butz in Rothenberg ob der Tauber. THAT'S what the entry in Europe on $5 & $10 a day said! Well? Hotel Y has the same charm. Clean, convenient, it's super staff made my stay.
