“Do not accept Room 7!!!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed October 27, 2013

Hotel situated near LeidsPlein. well located for museums, restaurants, shopping, boat tours etc

Hotel was clean, staff were friendly.

However room 7 is in the basement at the front of the hotel. The windows have bars on them and are at foot level on the street.

The room is incredibly stuffy and hot even though it was 26 October. The windows open a little bit but the noise level from the street increases dramatically.
You have two options: no sleep as too hot and stuffy or no sleep due to the noise of people passing by throughout the night. When you finally get some sleep you will be awakened by the bin lorry (Garbage truck)

The room carpet was stained
The mattress was very soft and moved during the night
The mixer on the shower had a piece missing to the right hand side as you face it which could cut your hand if your not careful (shower temperature and pressure was fine)
Room furniture looked cheap. Not a homely room.

I do not know what other rooms were like but avoid room 7 at all costs. The guy on reception when we checked out at 7.30 am said that room 7 wasn't a nice room as it was too noisy and the air was not good in it but the other basement rooms were fine.
I normally do not complain but I would not stay here again!!!!!!

Room Tip: Do not book basement rooms at this hotel. Especially basement rooms at the front facing the street

Good location there is a bus stop not far away and the bus is €4 to schipol airport. Room was spotless and a good size. .Breakfast was good value at €10 per person with plenty to choose from. This was a good value hotel. It has a nice bar area and it is happy hour between 5 and 6. We would stay here again.

First the good points. The hotel is ideally placed for the museums, galleries and restaurants and the staff are friendly and helpful. Apart from that the reception area, breakfast room and bar are very dated and totally characterless. If they are full and you are offered rooms 1 to 17 just refuse and go elsewhere. They are down in the basement and are dingy, dark and depressing. Some overlook the "garden" which is a piece of waste ground with an old shed. Perhaps the rooms on the upper floors are much better but no self-respecting hotel should offer rooms of this standard under the Best Western banner. Premier Inns would throw up their hands in horror.

Room Tip: Ask for anything other than rooms 1 to 17.

This was a budget hotel - - lobby was small & uninviting, hall carpets were dirty, & there were weird stairs (after taking the elevator) to my room.

The room had a weird set up - the bed in the middle of the room, a closet, tv & bathroom. The room smelled like it had been a smoking room at one time.

Location was convenient - walking distance to museums, Anne Frank Huis, canals, restaurants & shopping. Easy to take bus #97 from the airport.

This was our second visit and once again we were struck by how great the location of this hotel is. The staff were extremely friendly and breakfast plentiful and tasty. The rooms are a little tired but the beds are super comfy and spotlessly clean. The hotel is easy to get to from the airport on the 197 bus (4 euros per person) which takes about 40 minutes. The museum quarter, Vondel park and the Leidesplein are all within a few minutes walk and there are numerous restaurants and bars in the vicinity. For a good value hotel within easy reach of the sights of Amsterdam this hotel is hard to beat.

Stayed at the Best Western. Was scared the location would be too far from the city center but come to find out it was in an amazing location. Easy to walk to all the sites from here.

Free - good wifi in the rooms.

Typical breakfast buffet but you had to pay extra so we skipped this part.

The room was cleaned. Average for the most part.

Price was just right. Would stay here again.
