“We would stay again”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 9, 2012

This was our 1st visit to Amsterdam. We stayed 2 weeks before Christmas for 3 nights. I found a great package through an on-line travel agent that worked out cheaper than booking seperate flights and hotel. We were approx £350 for both of us all-in. Bargain!

The hotel was lovely. Brilliant value for money. It has really friendly staff who allowed us to check in 3 hours early! This was wonderful as it meant we had 4 full days to explore. We were also able to leave our luggage in a secure room when we checked out as we had late night flights home too.

The room was perfect for a short stay. It had fantastic central heating (it was freezing outside!), a lovely big window that opened overlooking the hotel across the street, a large wardrobe with a safe, comfortable bed and a clean brightly lit bathroom. The room was cleaned each day.The room was fairly small but perfect for a couple for a short stay. Afterall we weren't visiting to spend a lot of time in the room.

We had breakfast the 1st morning in the hotel, it wasn't for me. The hot-food had gone cold and the breakfast room could do with maybe the radio playing or something to give it a bit more atmosphere. Everyone was eating in silence! Very strange for me! There was plenty of choice and everyone else seemed happy. Luckily we stayed room-only. I may have felt I'd been ripped off if I'd paid extra for B&B as there are so many lovely places to eat out for breakfast.

There is also a lovely little bar in the hotel which was great to come back to after a night out for a meal etc. It was no more expensive than any other bar which was great. The bar man was very friendly too.

The location of the hotel is brilliant. If I were to visit Amsterdam again, I would look this hotel up before booking anywhere else. Brilliant value for money restaurants near by, a short walk to the Van Gough Museum, the Fashion District right round the corner, Great tram links for everywhere you may want to visit. For me it was the perfect hotel for a Christmas break. We are considering coming back in the summer.

Room Tip: I'm not aware there would be any bad rooms at this hotel to be honest.

There were supposed to be a safe in every room. I guess we got the one without, so we had to leave all our "valuables" in the front desk safe, where we only could access it at certain times.

Accept from that the hotel was average. Short walk to leidseplein.

Not a bad little hotel quite central for some of the main attractions. Breakfast was also very plentiful with a wide choice of hot and cold food. Room was a bit small though for £200 per night over the new year period, price halved from 2nd January. Overall I would stay again but not during a festival or holiday occasion because it is not worth it for the doubling in price against the facilities of the hotel. There are better hotels that cost less.

You seem to pay more than you would elsewhere for hotels in Amsterdam and then they turn out to feel ‘worn’ and a bit of a letdown. This was much better, and good for the price. You need to get a tram or a taxi from the Central Station (or it’s a half hour walk), but trams are plentiful. Hotel is located in a quiet residential street about 5 minutes from the Leidsesplein which is a square with off-roads with lots of bars, restaurants/cafes, and ideal for the Melkweg which is just off the square. Check-in/reception staff were helpful and efficient. Rooms are pleasant, tastefully furnished, and have either been well-cared for or were newly restored. Rooms are not large - might get a bit claustrophobic if staying more than one night – probably because much like others the hotel is conversion and so reflects the original layout of the property. Didn’t have breakfast but it looked good and there was a small but comfortable lobby area which was comfortable to wait for/meet people in.

This hotel was just what we expected: basic, a bit worn, but ok. We had a triple room. It was rather small, but clean and nice. Nothing fancy about the breakfast, either. The breakfast room was crowded and small. The location was good and peaceful, since it is very easy to move around Amsterdam using the public transport.

Four of us spent a long weekend in Amsterdam and this hotel was a suitable base for our stay. Being a franchise you expect certain standards and we were not disappointed with our choice. The rooms were a decent size with one facing the street (107) and the other facing the rear (104). The room facing the rear was quiet whereas the one at the front did suffer a bit from street noise in the early hours as people returned from their eveing out. The rooms had twin beds and were very clean. Digital safe, towels and hairdryers were supplied as well as TV and tea making facilities. Breakfast was ok. 7.50 euros in advance or 10 euros on the day for typical Continental style fare. For those in the UK this is very similar to the Premier Inn standard. The hotel is situated in a quiet area only a short walk from the bars and cafes of Leidse Square. A reasonably priced hotel which met all our expectations.

Room Tip: For a good nights sleep ask for a room at the rear of the hotel.

The location is perfect, a ten-minute walk from the museums, and a five-minute walk from a great shopping street. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was fine. Free wifi. Electric kettle with tea and coffee. The buffet breakfast was good and cheap if you reserved the night before (7.5 euros). This hotel is very good value for money.
