“Beautiful hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 15, 2012

Beautiful hotel, unique and classy. The rooms were huge, the complimentary mini bar was a great add, the beds were very comfortable and the room beautifully decorated. The bathrooms were clean, but kind of lacked privacy (only because of the style of bathroom doors, they were frosted/cloudy glass). The location is great and within steps of everything. Internet was fast, the room service was delicious and our stay was overall great.

Something very different - Naval character. Walkable from central station and main square.
Free wireless internet in room and the curtain is remote controlled!
A British 3-pin plug in room was helpful.
Spa and pool are amazing and just like the pictures on hotel's website.

We booked this hotel through Priceline bidding booking system so we didn't know what we were getting but we were more than pleasantly surprised to experience this!

Checked us in early...beautiful room with lots of space. Bath tub deep as the ocean - wonderful! Husband LOVED the complimentary mini bar.

Scones in the lounge were yummy and spa was beautiful, if a little difficult to find!

A gorgeous and very much under-rated art deco hotel...enjoy!

The staff were friendly and very helpful, and location is excellent. Pay extra and choose a city view room - otherwise you will be looking into other hotel rooms. Free minibar was a nice extra.

Comfortable, central, easy to reach from Central Station.
Huge room but with some problems in case of wind (strong drafts and noise). Free mini bar restocked daily; Nespresso machine for coffee and tea machine , free wireless and wellness included in the price (heated pool, sauna, turkish bath, idro-massage). Pre credit of $ 300 on credit card as a deposit, Staff very friendly and helpful. If I were the director I would do some spot check in the rooms. I certainly would find situations of widespread lack of cleanliness that are not suitable for a 5-star (the bathroom of our room was not cleaned for three days, only change of towles; cups used for breakfast only rinsed, and not very well; widespread dust...).

This hotel was a great way to spend a few days in Amsterdam in December. We arrived around 7 am in the morning mid-week. We requested early arrival upon making the reservation and surprisingly they were expecting us had a room ready for us. The room was large and beautiful - very comfortable, high ceilings, great view of the canal/city and the in-room amenities were great - nespresso machine and the free mini bar. Room service didn't refill the mini bar automatically, just make sure to call and ask. The bathroom was beautiful and was disappointed that we didn't have the time to enjoy the beautiful spa. They really did a great job with this place, it feels sort of like a maze getting to the elevator and your room but that adds to the charm and comfortable/private feeling of the hotel rather than feeling like your in a massive overrun hotel. The hotel is also nice because it is out of the hustle and bustle of being right in the city center ( I was amazed at how quiet it was sleeping there, even with a window open) but still close enough to get to main tourist points on foot. The concierge gave us good restaurant recommendations and were friendly. The bar/lounge is comfortable and had good service. I will definitely stay here next time in Amsterdam and highly recommend it.

I was in Amsterdam and decided to treat myself to a nice hotel for the evening. I made a reservation at the Amrath at 5:30 pm, and took a cab to the hotel. When I arrived at the hotel, I did not like the location. The Amrath is located on the corner of a busy street. I cancelled the reservation around 7:00 pm, and went straight to Hotel Pulitzer. The next day, I received an email from the manager at the Amrath advising that they would be charging my credit card for the room. I explained the situation and advised that there website fails to address same day reservations. To my surprise, the Amrath staff elected charged me for the room anyway! While I cannot speak to the amenities at this hotel, the customer service is deplorable and the location is not great if you are looking for a quaint hotel. On the other hand, the Pulitzer was amazing.
