“Literally just a bed in the room.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 28, 2011

We didn't have a problem getting here at all. It is a little out of the way (20 minute walk to Leidseplein, 40 minutes to Dam Square if you don't want to catch the trams) but I didn't mind that at all. It was a very short walk away from Museumplein with a nice park and a few museums but there isn't any kind of nightlife in that area.

We were greeted by a crowd of people smoking outside of the front door (I'm not particularly bothered by this but it didn't look too great) and the guy at the desk was absolutely lovely. He explained where our room was and to see him if we had any problems. We took the lift up to the 3rd floor (it's only big enough for two people but a lift in Amsterdam is a rare thing anyway so no complaints), went through some saloon style doors that were incredibly loud and opened our door.

The room was like nothing I've ever seen before. There was absolutely no floor space, it was just a bed filling up almost the entire room. The two of us could not stand up at the same time (no exaggeration). There was a small TV at the bottom of the bed and a mirror on the wall. We had to stack our cases on top of each other in the corner and had nowhere to hang anything up. Everything stayed in our cases. This really ruined it for us.

We'd also requested a twin room but was given two very small single beds pushed together. There was one pillow each that might as well have not even been there. We didn't even bother bringing this up as we were worried about what the other room would be like.

The bathroom was lovely and I couldn't fault it one bit. The hairdryer didn't work but we had our own and it was all very clean. The only problem was that the door was right next to the bed so there was not really any privacy and it was all very loud.

All throughout the night (I mean going through until 5am), there was constant banging of those saloon style doors and whatever else was going on. The noise really did not stop and we didn't sleep very well at all. This didn't really help when you're squished up in and uncomfortable as it is.

We also had to leave our key card with reception every time we left the hostel. We both found this quite strange and although I'm sure there's a reasonable explaination for it, we felt quite uncomfortable doing this.

We never went for breakfast as we were trying to catch up on sleep so I can't comment on how good or bad it was.

From previous experience of staying in private hostel rooms, I expected a LOT more for £30 each a night. We really felt as though this ruined our trip. Having to get ready separately, not being able to get in to our suitcases, having very little privacy and not getting much sleep. I really cannot stress enough how tiny the room was.

In all, this ruined our holiday and I feel it is completely unacceptable to expect people to stay in a room like that when you can pay the same price in other hostels around Amsterdam and get so, so much more (drawing from experience). We would not reccommend this place to anybody.

Room Tip: Just don't go.

We were expecting to be sharing a room with other people because that was what we asked for to lower the price but we ended up with a private room. there were 5 of us sharing a room with 3 bunk beds and we had plenty of space. The bathroom was also quite large. The staff were friendly and were very up on security which was comforting. they also asked us what we planned to do and made some suggestions. the computers were free to use and there was a communual area where other travellers and holiday makers were friendly. The food wasn't brilliant but, for the price, it was fine. Very, very cheap! around the corner from a supermarket, next to a tram line- which is brilliant; and the walk into town is about 15 minutes and it's a beautiful walk. There's also a lauderette around the corner and a quaint spanish bar. the best thing is it is in a residential area so it's quiet and you don't get all the late night crowds from town.

Room Tip: a private room or if there's a large groupo of you, get large rooms rather than loads of little...

Inner amsterdam is the most commonplace hotel I have ever stayed in. No unpleasant experience, but it has what a decent place to rest your head should have. Nothing more, nothing less. It is close to a few tourist attractions like Vangogh and the bus stop is also a few minutes walk, but is a bit away from central amsterdam. No average priced restaurants closeby. It is not a lively place, but if you do not get any other place in central amsterdam this is not a bad place to put up with. The breakfast was good which was the one of the better parts.

Room Tip: Take one of the rooms in the lower floors if you are internet savvy because the wi-fi signal is bad...

Reasonable hostel, good sized private dorms, oldish decor, very mixed feelings about staff, moderate location.

The hostel is about €15 in a taxi from Amstel station. Take the 2 or 5 from Central station- so from that point of view it is accessable but it is a 20minute walk from the centre of town. The staff were very hit and miss, seemed under pressure with queues, others were very helpful but overall they seemed to lack patience!

The decor is a bit outdated, but there is free internet available. Breakfast is fine but it can be a bit of a cattle mart approaching close of breakfast with everyone coming at once.

I had a pleasant stay here, it wasn't wow, I wouldn't mind staying there again, but I'd try book somewhere else first the next time.

Room Tip: The private dorms are very good value and spacious so I would recommend them.

we turned up at hotel inner , at 10 am, and got told we had to wait untill 2 pm to get into our room as they were apperently being cleaned, time ticked on and our room still wasnt ready by 3, if was a very scary and unconforting atmosphere, baring in mind were 18&21 and were free spirits, we then got our key to our room and walked up these daunting stairs, everything was getting worse and worse , the corridor to our room was about 1 metre wide it was like an alley way, there were teenagers working in the corridors cleaning the rooms, we then entered the room , our room was disgusting the bed had not been made, i felt sick , there was alcohol bottles on the floor, and the room stank of wee, there were pubs on the bed, it looked like someone had literally woke up and left the room, it was a disgrace, the room was like a box with no space, i felt scared, my friend who is an 18 year old girl was suppose to share a room with other men !!!!! DISGUSTING !!! i had to get out of this place, it was horrific, we ran out of the hotel in disgust we were all crying our eyes out, it was the worst experience of my life, i felt so uncomfortable!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NEVER EVER EVER STAY HERE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! plus its ages away from the main town !!!!! honestly take my opinion NEVERR EVER EVER STAY HERE !!!! YOU WILLLLLL BE HORRIFIED!! you also have to share a shower room with the whole floor !!!

Just got back from the Hotel Inner which was generally average. The bedding was clean as were the towels and we checked for bed bugs and didn't find any nor did we get bitten. It looks like they are trying to renovate a bit at a time. It claims to serve a hot breakfast but this is not true, it's a cold buffet of cheese and ham/meats.
There was no comfortable place to sit downstairs. in the bar area there were just very high wooden bar stools which we found very uncomfortable and if you are small like me downright dangerous to climb on and off.

Our double room was very small, but this doesn't matter as who wants to spend time sitting in their room when in Amsterdam? It's only for sleeping in, bed was sooooo comfy and clean. Walls could do with a lick of paint. Great to have an en-suite room, bathroom very clean & everything working perfectly. Nice atmosphere in lobby & also at breakfast time, relaxed & sociable. Plenty of choice for breakfast, fill up as much as you want, saves money buying expensive food when out & about in the city. No tea & coffee making facilities in bedrooms, beer available from fridge in lobby. Really enjoyed my stay & would deffo go back again.
Nearly forgot to mention the excellent location, can't really be beaten.
Also, thumbs up for the brilliant Dutch public transport system.
