“Better than Quentin Arrival Hotel”
Reviewed January 4, 2013

This hotel is much better compared to its sister hotel, Quentin Arrival. Although its location is not near the Amsterdam Central station but it is closer to musuems and interior in the city. It is right in front of the canal. Easily accessible by trams and short 2 mins walk out to the tram stops.

Room is still small fior two persons but with private bathroom attached. The whole hotel is bigger with more rooms and comfortable passageways to the rooms. The decorations in the hotel make it more pleasant to stay in. There is an elevator so no worries on luggages. Reception was swift and nice.

Only stayed here for a short night so could have just booked here compared to Quentin Arrival. Overall a pleasant stay here in Amsterdam.

Room Tip: Request for rooms facing the canal for better view of scenary.

Very steep steps to the front enterance (so not good for anyone with a mobility disability). There is a lift to the floors once inside though.
The hotel had a strange smell that we noticed (they have attempted to mask the smell with burning candels on the ground floor). The smell was particularly evident in the bathroom. I think it is to do with its close location to the canal. Although this is not a biggie, if you have highly atuned smells senses like me it is a bit unpleasant. The timber bed frame is built into the wall and right up against the window (which just had a view out to the back of another building). The room was rather small overall...but not to the point that you couldnt move your suit case around.
When our room was serviced by the cleaners they did not give us new soap or new towels, but did take our old ones away. We were forced to have to use hand towels as bath towels....On a positive note, the hotel is in a good area, close to the tram, surrounded by a good number of resturants to pick from and shops. For its conveinece to the heart of Amsterdam we think this place wasnt too bad overall, but there were a few things they could improve on.

Really liked this hotel, they'd bothered with some nice pop art and while a couple of skirting boards might benefit from some TLC and new paint, the room was really clean. Travelled with a mate to see a rock concert and for what we paid each for a single room, it just worked. Space is tight, but the bed was comfy, there was a telly and a scrupulously clean if bijou en suite. Just ideal. Really handy for the nearby Leidesplein and nice and quiet so got a really good night's sleep. Can't fault it for the dosh. Will stay there again next time.

OK lets get straight to the point.... I was on business as I work for a Gorernment Department and we have a contract with a travel agent to pre-book a room so what's the problem I here you say!!! Well on arrival I was told at the reception that "we were waiting for further confirmation and paperwork" so I produced the letter from our Government appointed travel agent and Quentin Hotel said "NO not enough information sorry!!!" The reason was as the boss of the receptionist had not confirmed the booking! Well what a kerfuffle!! I offered to pay myself which then made the recpetionist ask if we ( another man) wanted a room together!!!! Oh my God!!! Nine forboden !! is what I said!!! So I had to pay myself. The room was ok as was the bed. The breakfast was basic and not VFM. The hotel employee at the breakfast "takes the biscuit" as he was was like a prision warder and NOTat all nice.In fact I found him intimitating. Conclusions close to the city and the canal boat - so do stay here but watch out for the "San" Quentin prision warder at Breakfast..........
