“Overpriced”
Reviewed October 15, 2012

Have stayed here 3 times, and on each occasion found a deterioration, but I doubt now if I would use it, as it is very overpriced , for what it is. All you are paying for,is the location, and this is why we used it.If you are thinking of booking any hotel on the Damrak, please look at the reviews, as EVERY one we have stayed in , have had a disgusting smell of sewage, in the room. I assume there is a problem in this area for drainage problems.Room was clean enough on last visit, but toilet pan left a lot to be desired which is off putting. However after saying this , you could tolerate it for one night.

Helpful staff members. Very friendly. Me and my husband lost each other around riksmusuem and the staff were kind enough to usher my husband in the hotel with ease. He came back to the hotel before me and lend him the spare key for the meantime.

The room was tiny but i was expecting it because it was disclosed beforehand. The sheets were fantastic and the bathroom was very clean. The lift was a bit old but at least there is a working lift, an alternative to their steep staircase. It was a reasonable hotel for its price i think.

My wife and I stayed at Dam Hotel for a few days and recommend it as a budget hotel. For walking tours of the city it is ideally situated, although it might be noisy outside after dark due to its proximity to Dam Square. We heard no commotion but early mornings showed there had been "revellers" in the area the previous night. The accommodation was not roomy, but was comfortable, and the included continental breakfast was good. We would stay at this hotel again

HI,

Amsterdam is a great experience. This was de second time. For a few years ago, we were in the same hotel. What a mess and (what a big surprise) we had a mouse in the room (our house mouse James). This time the staff was very friendly and the rooms were cosy and clean, but we were a little bit sad: our mousy was gone.
Our advice: go and experience!!!!!

We stayed in Amsterdam for 2 nights in the Flying Pig Downtown. Unfortunately we missed our flight and had to return to Amsterdam to stay one more night and somehow rebook our flights..with very little budget or time at 11.30 pm and raining outside..we stopped at The Dam Hotel, due to the location being situated right next to Central Station. We were greeted by the night Receptionist Quadeer - what a gentleman..not only did we manage to secure a room at a great rate, we were also allowed access to the internet, a pc and a printer to rebook our flights and print out our boarding pass. We weren't expecting much but we were pleasantly surprised when we reached the rooms. it was big spacious and immaculately clean - unfortunately we were only looking for a quick nap and away again the next day it would have been great to stay longer..but for the price and the hospitality we received I will most definitely return. It is a pity there are not more people in the world like the hotel staff Quadeer he really helped us and although it was late at night he was not annoyed by us and the requests to use his personal facilities, he was very friendly, told me to relax, take a seat and it would be okay. I honestly don't know what we would have done without him. 100% 10/10 satisfied

Room Tip: go at night time to see Quadeer.. what a guy ! Please tell him Pam said hi x
