“Great hotel in Amsterdam”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 14, 2013

I went to Amsterdam in December 2012 and stayed in this hotel, the view is amazing and the service was amazing too, its about a 5 min tram ride to the city center, and you can get the tram outside the hotel. Make sure that when you get a taxi you ask how much it will cost as they may rip you off , but your best off getting a tram. the hotel itself is very modern and has lots to offer. the room service was amazing and the food was good. I would defiantly use this hotel again.

Room Tip: Ask for a room to see the city

This is a very nice hotel. Our first impression when seeing the area and hotel was a little less then impressed. Its not in old town Amsterdam hotel (and doesn't claim to be)The staff was very friendly and helpful. Our room was clean and well appointed. The breakfast was unbelievable !!! They had a huge selection. We did not eat any other meals here. There are no other restaurants nearby but the trick is to buy a 24 or 48 hour "I am Amsterdam" pass. This includes museum and restaurant passes and a most beneficial local transportation pass! There is a tram stop in front of the hotel that is 1 stop from Central Station where trains and buses go all over town.

Great hotel. Close to central station (free shuttle every 30 minutes), modern and with good facilities. Not necessary to buy the unlimited wifi, the "limited" one is fast enough for daily matters.

The staff is highly professional.

Breakfast was correct and diverse

I will repeat with them

Room Tip: Over the 15th floor the views are extremely great

All in all the experience of the hotel was average, just because of the location.
It's a good hotel, the room was big ans spacious, the service was good too.
But the hotel is located quite for from the city center and is rather isolated (about 20 minutes walk to the central train station).
I know that there are free shuttles every half an hour, but you can't plan your day according to shuttles.
If you want to have dinner, you can either go to the hotel restaurant (which is overly priced, 25EUR for breakfast), or take a taxi to the city.
It's a good hotel, but I won't return there

Dear grooveTlv,

Thank you for sharing your feedback with regard to your stay in our hotel.

Indeed, we are located just outside the busy city centre in a new and upcoming area at the banks of the river IJ. Apart from the shuttle, we are connected by public transport with the centre with only one tramstop.

We do hope to have an opportunity to welcome you again in our hotel next time you travel to Amsterdam.

With kind regards,

Daniel Kaan

The Moevenpick Hotel in Amsterdam was the perfect place to stay for 3 days before beginning our river cruise. The hotel itself has a friendly staff, comfortable room and bedding, and a wonderful breakfast each morning. Plus the location was perfect for everything we wanted to do in the city!
We walked to all of the major sites - the Anne Frank House, Westerkerk Bell Tower, Hermitage Museum (where the Van Gogh exhibit was housed at the time) as well as the many restaurants, canals, coffee shops, cheese shops and the famous Red Light District. The hotel is conveniently located right by the train/bus station too so it was easy to catch the bus to the famous Rijksmuseum that just reopened after 10 years of renovations.
If you want a nice, clean hotel within walking distance to everything in the city of Amsterdam, the Moevenpick is the one!

Very nice appearing, comfortable, convenient to downtown, close to Centraal Station, wonderful and helpful staff. Quite good food in their restaurant. Room very quiet, never knew anyone else was at the hotel. Wonderful views from the higher rooms. Unfortunately, the bed mattress was very deformed where bodies laid (slept well though), shower water temperature close to impossible to adjust (continuously varied every few seconds between slightly too hot and too cold, probably on purpose, but just try to adjust the temperature!), no room temperature control (we had unusually warm days and it was always too warm in the room).

Room Tip: Higher rooms have better views
