“Hotel to stay for travellers on river cruises”

Hotel met all basic requirements for comfort. What was outstanding for our stay [31 Aug -2 Sep 2012] was the availability of a very special service-The Tuk Tuk. . Before I explain, the hotel already has a shuttle to send guests [advance reservation reqired]to the nearby Train Station. The trains go everywhere so the location of the hotel is really good as you can also walk there [15 mins] if you cannot get a seat on the shuttle. good weather I strongly recommend it as you get fresh air and exercise.
The Tuk Tuk run by the most helpful and friendly married couple in commerce has several electric 6-seaters buggies. For a very reasonable price [take it from someone from Singapore] you can go sightseeing up close and personal, or arrange to get to restaurants of your choice in the evening . We availed ourselves of this service for all three days we stayed at the Moevenpick. Whether you are in Amsterdam for the first time or a repeat visitor, Tuk Tuk can assist to visit all the attractions or very targeted ones like the Beguinehofier, a special Amsterdam attraction that many visitors miss.
The hotel staff , especially the concierge and those at the Bell desk are friendly and helpful. The rates are reasonable [we booked through our travel agent in Singapore] and includes good hearty buffet breakfast daily.

Dear guests,

Thank you for your nice remarks with regard to your stay in our hotel. We are thrilled that you enjoyed the transport by Tuk Tuk, indeed an unconventional ride through the streets of Amsterdam. And we are glad our Bell desk proved to be supportive.

It will be great to welcome you again next time you travel to Europe.

With kind regards,

My family and I had booked a cruise to the Baltic States in the Holland America Prinsendam ship. We flew from Santiago, Chile to Amsterdam, arrived there by 6 pm and stayed at this hotel which is right next door to the cruise ship terminal. The other good thing about this place is that it is a 10 minute walk from the train station and, going under the overpass you enter the historic part of this city and the red light district, which, nowadays, is very touristic. Rooms were very nice. Ours had a view to the west upon the Amstel river. On the second floor it has a very nice restaurant, again with a view to the west upon the river.

Good stay, good location, comfy bed and nice sized room. Breakfast completely overpriced and the standard of hygiene could have been slightly better... Dirty sofa, tea stains and crumbs on tea tray just small things. But that's pernickety.

I recently stayed at this hotel for 3 nights and upgraded in advance to an Executive Room. Our bedroom itself was fine, with all expected amenites, but to be honest it was nothing out of the ordinary. Good range of tv channels and nice bathroom, but it just seemed to be lacking a few "special" touches - although it was undoubtably good value for money.

Breakfast was excellent with a really good range of food available. It was served until 1030, which was later than I had expected and a definite bonus!

Overall, a nice hotel.

The hotel is located just 1 tram stop away from Amsterdam's public transport hub, which is the Centraal Station. Moreover, it is located in a very safe area and you can always go down for a night stroll along the coast.

Check-in was pretty efficient (10 mins) and I was given a room with King-sized bed with exceptional views of Amsterdam city. Room is speckless with basic amenities. There's free WiFi too, which is great!

My only qualm about the hotel is although the actual distance between the hotel and the tram stop 26 is quite near (less than 5 mins walk), we have to make a big detour around the Amsterdam Cruise Terminal and back up the street to get to the tram stop. This is because the bridge that connects the hotel to the main street is on the 2nd or 3rd floor and it is blocked by the hotel's restaurant, which is quite dumb. This is very inconvenient for tourists who prefer to use the public transport and I've seen some guests who walked all the way up the bridge with their luggage (cos it's the most direct route though there's a sign that says hotel guests should not use the bridge), only to be disappointed that it does not connect to the main lobby. I think the hotel's management should open up that link so as to provide a better experience for it's guests.

Room Tip: Request for a room in the upper levels of the hotel, with views of Amsterdam city.

Hotel is good. But I don't like two things.
1) Blue sofa -in room- was very dirty. (disgusting)
2) Two single beds combined that means double bed.If you're a couple, you'll not like that bed. Two small quilt/blanket. That means you have to sleep on single bed.
Hotel has a free shuttle on every haf an hours. (don't forget, reserve your seat before)
800 m to Central Station. Can not walk easily from Station.
Helpful and friendly staff.
No shopping area near the hotel. Hotel looks like on an island.
Note: If you have a time, visit to Volendam and Marken.

Room Tip: Good view from up to 10th floor.

As other reviewers have said.. This hotel is about a 15 min walk from centre of Amsterdam and if you walk ( which we did every day) you do have to double back on yourself a bit before you can get to the hotel entrance which when you are tired can be a little frustrating ! Lovely views from our room.. Very comfortable stay. We ate in the bar one evening and the food was very good. Staff great. I was a little surprised that we were expected to take our own bags to our room but it wasn't a major problem. Overall a very nice hotel with a relaxed and calm atmosphere.
