“You get what you pay for.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed May 10, 2013 via mobile

A friend and I stayed here for 4 nights. It was easy to find and is situated in a really busy part of Amsterdam. We stayed in room 12, a twin room. We had our own bathroom, which was a nice surprise as when we booked we were told we would be sharing a bathroom. The room its self was a nice size, though we did think it was odd that our window looked into the room next doors living area, our window only opened a few inches so we couldn't get any fresh air or cool the room down. We found the beds very comfy and we got clean towels everyday, but the general state of the hotel was poor, outdated and dirty. It is above a bar which plays very loud music. I didn't enjoy breakfast. The only choice was toast, cheese and ham, instant coffee or juice, there also was not enough room for everyone to sit down. We ended up going across the road the the Irish bar to get a nice cooked breakfast, good coffee and fresh orange juice. You get what you pay for in this hotel. The front of house staff weren't very friendly, we didn't feel like we could ask them help or directions. There is WiFi, but it didnt reach in to our room. We had to go to the main area to use it.

this hotel should be shut down! I had to book this place last minute. The location is rather good, right next to Rembrandt square. But i regret staying here.No hot water, and smelly bathroom and a shabby place overall. It was so noisy, with door banging and disco music. We could barely sleep.Oh ,did you know there is a discotheque right below ?You can hear the music all night.Highly recommend not to stay here ever!

Location is right in front of club, and on the side is Rembrantsquare, so very noisy. Service sucked.....breakfast....what breakfast? Toast, ham, cheese, coffee and juice...lousy.
We said to receptionist; that we don't need cleaning or housekeeping....request was ignored. Staff members were unpleasant. it sucks. never again.
We chose an other place to stay for last night, half the price, more than double better place.

I really regret that I didn't read the review about this hotel before I booked and stayed here.

Pros.
-Location (it's located in the city centre, and easy access to restaurants, cafes, bars, coffee shop, clubs, supermarkets, flower market, famous shopping streets. Especially, I really liked walking along the pretty canal near the hotel.)

Cons.
-No elevator
-most of the facilities in the room were out of order(tv, heater, bed side ramp, kettle)
-THE SHOWER!( suddenly super hot water come out, and few seconds later cold water come out! and then hot water.. and cold water again..)
-noise (I'm usually not sensitive to noise, but I could barely sleep. As others have written, it has many clubs around that's the main reason. But also, the walls and floors are thin enough to hear what your neighbours doing and talking about. and also, they seemed to have frequent bogan customers who were apparently high, and yelling and laughing at each other in like 3am.)
-poor breakfast

I can handle those cons, but I don't think it's worth paying 110 euro per night including deposit and tax. Should be less than half price of this.

Fab location.Room clean slightly on small side but we had 3beds in room which I imagine was designed for 2. Staff pleasant and helpful. On the minus side the 3steep flights of stairs were horrendous and for that reason I would not stay here again. The nightclub noise was brutal but we knew about the club before we booked.
