This hotel along with a lot of hotels in Amsterdam should not be expected to blow you away with 5 star service and food. I went there with three friends and we had no intention to stay in a dirty hostel as lots of groups of friends going to Amsterdam do. We came across this hotel by chance through google and thought it would be ideal for us. Three guys, going to Amsterdam. The hotel is easily accessible via Tram from the Airport, a few stops to Rembrandt square and you're there. The first thing you notice is how good the location is, everything is is reachable via a few tram stops, walking or by bike (highly recommended). When we entered the hotel it was as expected - a bit gloomy in need of a hoover and a bit of a tidy. As we checked in we managed to sneak a peek into the 'normal' rooms while the cleaner was 'cleaning', they didn't look great and instantly our hearts sank a little. Small dingy rooms that you could barely swing a cat in. We were then told that the lady checking us in would need to take us down the road to our room. We knew we had booked an 'apartment', but had assumed it was lost in translation somehow. As we were taken outside the main hotel door, we were taken a few doors down to what looked like a block of flats. Up a few flight of stairs, we were shown into our apartment - to which all three of us were very very pleasantly surprised. Apartment, was definitely not lost in translation, as what we had been given was exactly that, a basic one bedroom apartment with a sofa bed, fully working, clean kitchen and bathroom, fully working TV. Yes, the paint was a bit scuffed, the lights were hanging slightly off the wall and curtains were a bit torn. But for us it was perfect. We ate out most days, so didn't have the option of trying breakfast, which is advice I had followed after reading a few reviews on here. I would absolutely recommend this hotel for guys and groups - just make sure you ask for an apartment (only available if your in a group of 3 or more) so you don't get stuck with a grotty bedroom. Best of all we checked out 2 hours late as we overslept and they didn't say a word.
Great location but not a great hotel.. In fact to call it a hotel is a bit of an insult to hotels. A cramped room with 3 tiny single beds a shower room for almost 350 euros for 2 nights. We skipped breakfast!
It really is as bad as the reviews suggest, shame we didnt look on here first. is just about passable as a hostel that you would expect to pay £20 a night for. 4 beds with horrid knackered matresses in a 12 foot by 8 room. In desperate need of a full makeover. breakfast is just tea and toast, which you make yourself. noise from disco underneath and bars outside goes on all night. you need to be absolutly out of it, to get any sleep. would not wish this place on my worst enemy
after booking the hotel i read the reviews and i was dreading staying there!! i was expecting the worse, but was very surprised! its a basic hotel, and you do need the energy to walk up the stairs.. but the loaction couldnt of been better!! it was clean and comfy and the staff were helpfull about the area etc.. id recxomened this hotel to anyone who is looking to stay in the nightlife and are on a budget :)
