“Beautiful B&B”
Reviewed June 2, 2013

From the initial booking taken by Karen (one half of the friendly couple that owns the place) to the warm welcome by the incredibly helpful Paul (the other half), our short stay at this delightful B&B was a delight. We had a beautiful, bright and airy room - absolutely spotless - with tall windows overlooking the lush gardens at the back of the old canal house which made it lovely and peaceful. The front overlooks the canal. The house is conveniently situated just South of the Vondelpark and it is only a nice 20 minute stroll through the park to the Museumplein and the centre of town. Alternatively, it is a short tram ride. Paul was extremely helpful providing us with a map marked with the many nice places to eat in the neighbourhood as well as the nearby supermarket and bank. The restaurant we picked at random - Indonesian restaurant Blauw - was superb. Thank you Karen and Paul. We will recommend your lovely place to all our friends in Australia and Holland.

Room Tip: Highly recommended. Book early if you can so you don't miss out!

My family stayed here for 4 nights in May. We had the upstairs studio, which is bright and clean, with the double bedroom overlooking the canal, and extra beds were set up in the open plan living room for our 3 kids. The suite is comfortably furnished with a kitchen area and breakfast supplies (milk, tea, coffee and selection of cereals) are stocked in the cupboards. It is a great place to stay iwth children - right on the water, close to the Vondelpark, quiet and calm and very clean and comfortable. We were welcomed on arrival by Paul, who gave us all the essential information on what to see and do, and where to go for a good meal. Otherwise, the owners are very discreet. The suite was cleaned daily, and the no-shoes / no-smoking poilicy adds to the air of freshness. I will recommend this address to friends, and wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

Paul and Karen are warm hosts whose b & b is in a quiet, residential location a 25 minute walk or short tram ride to the center. The house is immaculate, not much in the way of frills, but we had a comfortable bedroom, bath and kitchen atop a long flight of stairs. Breakfast is not typical communal b & b hot breakfast, but assortment of cereals, coffee, tea and milk. Supermarket is 12 block away, and great bistro restaurant next door. Paul will help you with restaurants, touring, etc.. Thanks for making our first visit to Amsterdam memorable.

Located on a canal, close to trams and a wonderful walk through Vondel Park. By his orientation and maps, Paul (our host) made it simple to travel throughout Amsterdam. B&B was clean, quiet, and near to a great pub!

Me, my sister and my mum stayed at Paul's bnb for 6 days and 5 nights. We got the room no.10 at the second floor, with a very nice view towards the garden below. We're so glad that the longest winter has ended and the spring has actually coming at that time. You could see and sense the nice smell from all flowers at the garden (although it hasn't blooming all, but its fine). Waking up at the morning, making tea and coffee from the kitchen and then having small chats at the balcony overlooking the garden has become a really nice experience. A bit review about the facilities, room was splendid, very clean, very neat, including the kitchen and bathroom. All aspects regarding the facilities have been superb. Staying at this bnb its like staying in one of your family's house, it has a nice warm feeling. And, we also love the personal touch such as the bessen jenever (love it so much!!) and chocolate. Finally, I found the location of this bnb is just perfect, it is situated in a very nice neighborhood, peaceful and serene area, very close to Vondelpark and you can walk to the tram station only in 6-7 minutes. Restaurants and café also very close. Truly recommended for those who want to stay in Amsterdam, you will enjoy warm hospitality from the owner, Paul, great facilities, and great neighborhood.

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the garden is perfect

We stayed at the Amsterdam B&B for three nights, and found it to be very relaxing and enjoyable. The host, Paul, gave us a great orientation to the city and was very helpful. The room was very clean, cosy and roomy. We really enjoyed our stay.

What a place to stay, relax and enjoy the beautiful Schinkel Canal right near Vondel Park! We had a great host who sat us down with a map, and pointed out the 'must see and do's' while in Amsterdam and convinced us to stay an extra night to ensure that we saw everything. We are so glad we did, we enjoyed all the local restaurants, sights and spent a whole day biking throughout Amsterdam and Vondel Park. Every evening when we returned 'home' we had chocolates on our pillow and clean linen and fresh towels. Kitchen, bath and shower are shared, but always clean and tidy. Loved the fresh, light and roomy atmosphere! Thank you for making us feel like home during our stay we hope to return one day!

Room Tip: Rooms at the back of the building are scenic and quiet.
