My girlfriend and I stayed here for three days of our spring break and thanks largely to Paul and Karen Amsterdam was the highlight of our trip. Our room was great and Paul and Karen were extremely helpful. The maps they provided us were very useful and the recommended restaurants that we tried were great. The blackcurrant gin in the room and chocolates on our pillows helped make our stay absolutely perfect.

We stayed in Amsterdam four nights. The B&B was cleaned each day and fresh towels supplied, dishes washed, bed made up and chocolates placed on the pillows. Breakfast was light but we knew that when we made the reservations. Several cafes close by. Food store just one block away ('fridge in the room) Third floor suite - 32 steps - lots of room and private bath. Tram stops near-by. If we visit Amsterdam again, we will stay here again.

After traveling for 20 hours - arriving at Paul and Karen's Tulips B&B was wonderful. They were waiting for us and greeted us warmly. We got all the details we needed including a map, tram info, restaurant suggestions and internet spots. Our room was warm, comfortable and sparkling clean!

The neighborhood is quiet but not boring and it's just the right distance away from the noise of the city. Paul and Karen leave you alone but are always just a phone call away if you need anything.

We enjoyed the cereal and milk (and not always in the morning!); and the mini-carafe of Bessen Jenever (Blackcurrant Gin) and choclolates on our pillows each night are a lovely touch. I appreciated the no-shoes policy as it adds to the quiet and the cleanliness of the B&B.

We recommend staying here without reservation and we are looking forward to returning.

Location excellent, just out of the city center noise but close enough for an easy tram ride in, Really pretty canal side house, adjacent to the Park. Tastefully decorated, immaculate throughout, very very clean. Good restaurants close by. Paul and Karen (the owners) are very helpful. We cannot think of any down sides we will be staying there again.

Our family of four stayed at Tulips for 1 week in May 2007. We had a wonderful experience staying at this bed and breakfast and would definitely stay there again.

Paul greeted us when we arrived and was very helpful and friendly. He spent a lot of time with us going over maps of the area as well as giving us suggestions for restaurants and things to do.

We stayed in the suite which was much bigger than we expected for a bed and breakfast. There was plenty of room for us and our two kids. The rooms were very clean and smoke-free. The beds were comfortable. The bathroom is spotless and well maintained with an excellent shower. There is a nice-sized kitchen and a sitting area with sofas and a television. There was enough closet space. We had a nice view of the canal from our window. We were fortunate to have cool evenings to keep the windows open. There is no air conditioning but we were comfortable. There is a narrow staircase to reach the suite, but we had no problems at all and Paul was helpful with the luggage.

The area was a very nice residential district away from the noise and hustle/bustle of downtown Amsterdam. We loved how it did not feel touristy. It felt very safe to walk around with our children. The tram stops were only a few minutes walk away, so that you could be anywhere in the city within 15-20 minutes. There were many restaurants and grocery stores nearby. Our favorite place to eat every day was Bagels and Beans for breakfast.

Overall, you will find Tulips to be well maintained by Paul and Karen. It is airy, clean and comfortable in a nice neighborhood. The price is very reasonable compared to hotels and well worth the stay.

My wife and I spent 4 nights at Paul & Karen’s B & B (17th-21st April, 2007) and have no hesitation in recommending the accommodation from every aspect. Booking the accommodation and subsequent communications were faultless including very detailed instructions on how to get there. Paul met us on arrival and was a mine of information. He provided a very useful map of what was available locally and also a map of the City itself and how to get there by tram. He also provides useful information on how to travel to all the various tourist attractions if you prefer to do this by yourself as opposed to an organized tour.
The B & B is situated in a quiet location, in pleasant surroundings, yet the City Centre is easily accessible by tram which runs every few minutes – the tram stop being about 5 mins walk from the B & B. However, should you wish to stay closer at hand, there are several good restaurants/cafes within a few minutes walk from the B & B also numerous shops, a Supermarket and an Internet Café . The accommodation is spotless and their no smoking/no shoes policy is highly commendable. The complimentary mini-carafe of Bessen Jenever (Blackcurrant Gin), replenished daily is a nice touch, also the chocolates.
We would not have the slightest hesitation in returning to this quality B & B on any future visit to Amsterdam.

We stayed in the upstairs suite and absolutely loved it. Paul and Karen gave us excellent directions from the airport and we had no trouble finding the B&B using public transportation. The suite itself was so clean, and bright, we had a hard time leaving it every morning and were delighted with the roominess and comfortable furnishings when we returned in the evening. There is a grocery store nearby, along with great restaurants and bakeries. Several nights we bought Chinese or Thai take-away and ate in the suite because it was so pretty and peaceful there. Paul explained in detail upon our arrival everything about the B&B and location, and tram service, etc. and although they were available when we needed information, Paul and Karen did not hover or intertrude otherwise. We would definitely stay there again.
