I signed up for the red light tour of Amsterdam, and found myself rethinking that decision the day of the tour. The weather was a bit cold, and frankly I thought it might be "too much" to take in. I am so glad I didn't cancel out. Mark gave a very thoughtful, entertaining, and interesting tour. It covered much about the history, and the politics, and also had humorous stops and asides. Awesome evening --- if you are a person that likes to know "how things work" - definitely sign up.

Had an all around great day. Loved all parts of tour, but my favorite was visiting the farm and seeing how the cows milk. We lucked out with beautiful weather. We had a nice walk trough the old town and then stopped for a delicious apple pie and coffee break. Final stop was the windmill tour and then we all enjoyed a wine, cheese and crackers spread Rory made for us in the building next to the windmill. Rory was so nice, funny and full of interesting info. Do not hesitate to book!

We loved our Red Light Tour. It was our 2nd time. On this trip we are traveling with another couple and recommend it to them and decided to go along since we enjoyed our last experience so much. What is remarkable about Mark is how well he informs and educates, and at the same time entertains on a very complex subject. Two hours very well spent!

We did the Windmill Tour with Rory and it was phenomenal! Rory was incredibly knowledgeable, funny and a great guy to spend a day with learning about the Dutch countryside and the area right outside Amsterdam. In addition to answering our questions about windmills and farming, Rory also talked global politics, what it’s like to live in Amsterdam as an expat and what to see during the rest of our stay. The entire tour was lovely! We learned so much, had a fabulous time and made some great memories. Thank you!

If you are looking for good company – fellow participants and guides – as you explore Amsterdam and the Dutch countryside, That Dam Guide is the tour company for you in both senses of the word company: a pleasure to engage in thought-provoking conversations with guides Lee, Mark and Rory, respectively, and their careful planning to tell the story that reveals Dutch culture and life in the past and present. In unhurried explorations of historic Amsterdam with Lee, and along the back roads and farm country outside the city with Mark and Rory, with restful stops for coffee in an iconic café and for apple pie in a beautiful fishing village, we learned about contemporary culture as it reflects the past and looks forward to the challenges, as an at and below sea level country, of the 21st century. Some examples include Dutch ingenuity and practicality brought to solving problems such as managing all that water, their famous approach to religious and social tolerance extending across several centuries to the present, and the ubiquitous bike culture. As follow up after a tour, the company sends links to videos and book suggestions that extend the topics explored. Both tours were highlights of our October visit to Amsterdam.

Hi, thank you for joining 2 of our tours, I'm really glad you enjoyed them. The countryside one was certainly an example of Dutch problem solving in action!

We did the windmill and countryside tour with Mark on October 1st. We were staying at the Double Tree Hotel, very convenient as this is Mark's place to pick up for the tour.It was a rainy morning, we were waiting outside and Mark came looking for us.We were a small group of 4, we were able to take turns riding shotgun beside Mark!!! After a very pleasant fact-filled and fun drive our first stop was at Monnickendam Mark led us on a walking tour around this delightful town with information and picture taking stops along the way.We enjoyed a delicious treat at Coffee and Cacao - apple pie with whipped cream and a hot beverage, so very welcome as it was still overcast and cool.Next stop was a dairy, potato and tulip bulb farm, we were met by the Mrs of this very enterprising operation.Mark gave us the tour as he is a most welcomed guide there (very easy to see why) !!!! Next was the stop for the working windmill where one was able to climb up inside to the top. A gift shop (run by volunteers) is located there as well.We had lunch supplied and set up by Mark, he is a man of many talents!!! Lunch consisted of cheese, crackers, chips, cold meat, condiments, grapes and wine.Dessert was chocolate bars made by Tony's Chocolates, DELICIOUS !!!!! After a leisurely, sunny drive back to the city we were dropped off at our Hotel. In our opinion Mark is an informative, fun and a welcoming host , kudos to you Mark on a well run company and tour. Thanks so very much for a delightful introduction to your city and country.

We were reluctant to venture into the red Light District on our own so we scheduled a tour with Lee. What a great choice. Booking on line was easy, the instructions on where to meet clear and Lee was on time.

She patiently navigated us through a very crowded Saturday night tour of the heart of Amsterdam. Personal stories about her life, mixed with history, anecdotes and moving about the town was fascinating.

She encouraged our questions and answered them throughly. Our group was small (5) so she took the time make recommendations for the rest of our stay.

The next day as we were sitting near a canal we saw her piloting a canal cruise. We waved goodbye to our new friend.

Great tour, great company with a gem of a guide!

Booked a three hour walking tour of Amsterdam with Mark's company and had an excellent experience. Our guide for the day was Rob, and he gave us an excellent tour to get us oriented in the city and see some of the major sights. I can't imagine a bus tour in Amsterdam, and other than a bicycle, walking is the only way to go. I would highly recommend That Dam Guide (Mark Law) and his guides. Well worth the extra investment to take a private tour. You won't regret it!

We had the pleasure of a three hour walking tour around Amsterdam with Rob, and can highly recommend it! Amsterdam is so walkable, but without a guide there are so many things that you will miss. It was fantastic to do a guided walking tour and have interesting things pointed out that you may not appreciate or notice without a local to show you.

Our guide Rob was absolutely terrific; a super nice guy and really knowledgeable about the city - both historically and present day. I always love hearing the history of a place, but equally like to hear about what it is like to live in a city and Rob covered both really well and answered all of our many and varied questions. Amsterdam has such an interesting story and it was enjoyable to hear all about it, and we came away with some great insights into Dutch culture and what makes the city so special.

Overall, a really great experience that I would highly recommend - would be particularly good to do this tour when you first arrive in Amsterdam as it’s also a great way to get your bearings in the lovely city.

We did a 3 hour walking tour with Lee on 19 October 2018. We thoroughly enjoyed the tour and Lee’s knowledge of the beautiful city of Amsterdam and its history. Lee was very friendly and personable. There were only 4 of us on the tour and as such was very intimate. Highly recommend this tour.

Hi, thanks for joining one of our tours. Our maximum group size is 10 but this time of year, it is often less so it is often like getting a private tour for a fraction of the costs!
