Everything is fantastic! Spacious clean rooms with comfortable beds and large showers. A shared kitchen between three rooms which is fully stocked and you can eat when you want. The rooms are bright with the large windows and comfortable to sit around in the kitchen or your balcony. Karel is very helpful with advice and the B&B has maps, tour books, guides etc. If you need laundry done....no problem and no extra cost.....it's included.....comes back all nicely folded. The boy who does the cleaning is very helpful and pleasant as well. We spent 5 nights here and highly recommend the place.

Room Tip: All three rooms are equal - just decorated differently by the collector.

B&B very convenient, near the museums, good transport links. Our large double room was spotlessly clean. The self serve breakfast worked really well, the fridge and cupboards were really well stocked, and great to be able to get a cup of tea/coffee at any time of day. The unique collections on display made this a really interesting place to stay, full of character. The owner made us very welcome and was on had to give advice on places to visit.

The place is as unique now as it was several years ago. Our room was clean, large and with some storage for clothing so you didn't have to live out of your suitcase. Karel stocks the kitchen with anything you might like to have, but you do need to tell him what it is you like. He is not a mind reader! The bread was always fresh, plenty of tea and coffee, meats and cheeses, pancakes, etc. Being able to fix a lunch or dinner in really is a big help. Just remember that it is an older building and the floors and stairs squeak, for those who are light sleepers. The only thing I might recommend is new pillows for the beds. One was too flat and using two ended up being too much. There were always plenty of clean towels. Having tram and bus stops practically outside the door was a big help, a grocery store close by, along with several wine shops makes the location perfect. BTW, buy your wine at Gall and Gall on Van Baerlestraat - they stay open late & prices and selection are great! I will stay at the Collector a third time if I ever get the chance.

Room Tip: All rooms are quiet. The back left room is the smallest of the 3, however, the wooden bedframes in...

My sister & I had a lovely stay at Karel's.We stayed in the clock room & could not believe how big the room was,the balcony was lovely to drink your tea or wine & watch the world go by.Loved the breakfast,a help yourself to anything theme.Karel is very helpful with place's to visit & how to get there. We would highly recommend the pizza restaurant around the corner from Karel's there so warm & friendly there. We went to the tulip field's which where out of this world also caught the train to see the windmills (only a 20 min train journey). The people are very helpful if you get lost just ask :)..It's about a 15 min walk into the centre of Amsterdam from Karel's,the tram (no16) stop's right outside Karel's place if you don't want to walk.We found a fantastic Christmas shop in the flower market it has everything you could imagine for a tree.It was a shame they don't let you take photo's :(..All in all a lovely place to stay & would highly recommend "THE COLLECTOR"..p.s.thank you for our gift Karel.xxxxx

Room Tip: We stayed in the Clock room at the front of the house.I think this is the biggest room in the house...

My sister and I stayed for four nights in the Clock Room overlooking the front of the building. The collection starts as soon as you enter with clogs on the stairs, Barbie dolls, snow globes, teaspoons and lots of others too. The kitchen is great - just help yourself to breakfast whenever you decide to get up - fridge full of goodies - bacon, eggs, meats and cheeses, yoghurts, fresh fruit. Karl is a very friendly guy with lots of local knowledge. The 197 bus stops just down the road and the 16 tram stops outside the B & B. The Riksmuseum is only a ten minute walk. The supermarket under the museumplein is fab - lots of goodies to make a picnic. Would definitely stay again.

Room Tip: Clock room overlooks front road so if you are a very light sleeper may prefer the back room but does...

We stay at the clock room for 5 days and 4 nights. Personally, I am so amaze with the interior of the bnb, it’s so unique and interesting since it has display of Karel’s collection all over the place. You can find interesting stuff right the moment you are entering the bnb (at the foyer). It continues until the stairs, the room and the kitchen. Room was amazing, huge, clean and has a nice little balcony with flowers. Kitchen has been our favorite spot since we can do all the cooking and chatting here. I just love the way things are arranged. You can find lots of kitchen utensils, fridge full of juice, milk, and what makes it better; they actually provide fresh eggs from their little chicken coop at the backyard. So cool! Fauzan, the guy who assist the bnb is really nice, informative and helpful as well. He really help us on many things, such as providing information on favorite places to visit, where to shop and little other things. The location also superb, it is so near to the museumplein and the tram station is just in front of the bnb. Really love the place!

Room Tip: the clock is the biggest, but rooms overlooking the backyard is nice as well

Quiet location. Just a short walk away from central town madness. The back rooms are very quiet.
The owner Karel is very pleasant, accommodating yet unobtrusive.
Easy bus ride (197) from Schipol Airport. Other trams also within easy walk. Also direct route to Centraal Station.
Kitchen is set up for guests to use. Stocked with essentials to make own breakfast. Also allows you to eat on your schedule. Supermarket with take out 5minutes away. Nice to get a coffee or tea after a day of tripping about town.
The house is original and decor has interesting hip nostalgic collections.
We loved it here.
