“Pity there was only time for one visit here”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 26, 2013

Managed to make it to In de Wildeman after dinner on our second (and final) night in Amsterdam. Great range of beers and excellent service (despite it being Saturday night and heaving with customers). And less than 200 metres from our accomodation!

“Good Beer & Meatballs”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 14, 2013

We just so happened to visit this bar on Amsterdam Beer Day so they had a special meatball to compliment the beer. I thoroughly enjoyed the beer and the old time atmosphere. If you're a beer drinker it's worth the stop in.

“Great bar with an amazing choice of beer”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 14, 2013

The choice of beer is amazing. We had a chat with the bar staff and they were only too happy to help and advise us from asking us what sort of beer we liked. Their recommendations were spot on. They will let you try a taster of the draft beers before you buy. Every beer has it's own style of glass. Not too busy as it is in a side road. We had a lovely evening here.

“Comfort for beer-thirsty and cheese-hungry”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 27, 2013

Unlike oither places from Bourdain's Amsterdam travelouge, this was awesome.
I asked the receptionist to mark the address on the map and it was easy to reach the pub from Jan Luijkenstraat.

I asked bartender for a strong sweet Dutch beer, and she gave me a little glass to taste one. The pub has outdoors benches too, and it is wonderful to relax outside, eating cheese and drinking nicely cold draft beer, watching colourful Dutchmen and curious tourists.

And there is an endless variety of beer inside, and you are free to ask as many questions you like, the friendly bartender will help you find the right beer for you.

(Well, not enough sweet beer for me... It is a paradise for trappist beer-lovers.)

And when you get hungry of all that beer - there's cheese, smoked meat and sausages. And a little bread.

You have to visit this place. And you'll need approximately 1100 visits to taste all kinds of beer they have. But with all that cheese and sausages, you'll manage it, don't worry.
