I stayed here for 2 nights recently for a conference. The people at check-in were friendly. Other than that it was not a great stay. They claim to have free wi-fi but the wireless was almost non existent. When I called down to the front desk one night to ask about it the guy told me that it worked on his phone. So I guess for him that was good enough customer service for him. The lobby is decorated with alot of art, however the rooms look like the furniture is from IKEA. THey also have a security hole in their conference rooms because the presentations of the group next door showed up on our screen when they used the wireless to present. So you info may not be confidential if you stay there.

Dear diamondHH,

Thank you for sharing your feedback about your stay in our hotel.
We regret that the WiFi connection was not reliable during your stay. There were a few problems with the connection for a couple of days. Because of this situation we have informed our receptionist about the right settings for a fast WiFi connection, so they can help every guests to get the right settings at their device. Our apologies for not informing you about the wireless internet.
We have updated our beamer system a few months ago. One of the new options includes a button that synchronise the screens, this is helpful when there are multiple screens in the meeting room. Unfortunately the function of this button is not very clear, so guests can synchronise the screens by accident. We apologise that this situation occurred at your presentation. We take the privacy of our guests very seriously so therefore our maintenance team has taken measures.
We hope we are able to welcome you again in Dutch Design Hotel Artemis.

I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights and had a pleasant stay. The hotel looked very nice from the outside, and even more so inside. The room was very spacious and had a lot of storage space. Stylishly designed, the room was a pleasure to stay in. The bathroom was large too which was a nice change from standard European hotels. However the highlight was most definitely the beds. Although we requested a double room, we were actually given a twin room with 2 large single beds, although we just pushed the 2 beds together. The beds were exceptionally comfortable - the best beds I've slept in to date! It was definitely a struggle getting up in the mornings!

The issue I had was only really with the location. It was about an 11 minute walk to the nearest tram stop which gets you to the city centre in 15-20 minutes, but we took a short cut through grassland which didn't feel particularly safe or well-lit. However there was never anyone around, and there were lots of rabbits at night hopping around which my partner and I found very endearing!

As such, this hotel would be good if you're a business person as it's in the business district, or if you're someone who doesn't mind that the hotel isn't right in the centre of town. For us it was fine, but it would have been nicer to have slightly closer/better transport links.

Dear katandko,

Thank you for sharing your experience at our hotel on TripAdvisor.
We are happy to read that you have enjoyed our comfy beds and the room facilities during your stay. To get to the city center of Amsterdam, you can take the tram or bus. To take tram #2 you can indeed walk through a grassland or at the street. Bus #145 stops right behind the hotel and takes you twice an hour in 25 minutes – depending on traffic – to different squares in Amsterdam. So a longer walk in the dark evenings is not required!
We hope we can welcome you another time in Dutch Design Hotel Artemis so you can enjoy the best beds you slept in again.

I recently stayed for nights in this hotel & whilst I realised its location was on the outskirts of Amsterdam, which was actually no real big problem in terms of getting to city centre, it was however the complete lack of anything else anywhere near the hotel that was a problem!
My boyfriend & I had a pleasant enough stay here but would not return nor would I recommend it.
A definite good tip from a fellow trip advisor review was taking the short cut behind the hotel to the nearest tram stop.

Dear louisebacon,

Thank you for taking the time to write a review on TripAdvisor about our hotel.
It is good to read that you have enjoyed your stay and the walk trough the green park behind the hotel. Indeed, we are located in a business area and in the weekends it is nice and quiet. In a ten minutes walk you are at the green and quiet Oeverlanden park where you can walk beside the waterfront and see different birds and Highland cows and in 25 minutes you are in the city centre of Amsterdam by bus of tram.
We look forward to welcome you again at Dutch Design Hotel Artemis.

First of all, let me start by saying that I think it is unfair how many people have left poor reviews owing to the hotel's location. This is a business hotel, therefore it is situated in the business district, and business districts in capital cities are very rarely in the centre of town. If you do your research right then you will know that this hotel is not in the city centre, you cannot blame the hotel for your mistake (they don't advertise as being in the city centre).

This wasn't my first trip to Artemis, and I still think it is a very smart, clean hotel. It is a very modern hotel with 'artistic' decor, has pleasant staff, and decent size (for a capital city), comfortable rooms.

To get to the city centre you need to take a 10 minute walk to the nearby tram, and from there it is about 20 minutes on the tram itself. Written down this looks like a bit of a drag, but a) the trip into town is quite pleasant (you get to see little suburbs etc) and b) hotels in the city centre cost a fortune. I managed to book the Artemis for £70 per night (you can nearly always find a deal here and as it is in the business district, weekends are cheaper so great for short breaks) compared to the £200 per night I was being quoted for a similar standard hotel in the centre. It cost my partner and I roughly 30 euros total for two 3 day passes on the tram (obtainable from reception) so even with this factored in you're still talking a £140ish saving. A 30 minute trip into town doesn't sound so bad now does it?

If you are coming in from the airport though, this can be a bit of an issue. Unfortunately Artemis haven't joined the shuttle programme (presumably because they are a business hotel and businessmen just take taxis) so to use the shuttle is 15 euros each, each way. There is a handy cheap bus though (outside the airport, and you need to get off at stop 'IBM') but the last bus is 7.30pm so no good for late arrivals and doesn't run on weekends. A taxi is about 25 euros one way (despite it only being a 10 minute journey). You can also get the train (station is below the airport) to Centraal Station in the city for a small cost (takes 10 minutes) and then get the tram back out to the hotel. It is a bit of trek to do the train option on arrival, but if you have a late flight and go into the city to spend your day first then this is handy. If you are not going to arrive in time for the bus it may be worth speaking directly with the hotel to see if they can help organise a cheaper pick up.

I would recommend this hotel to any business people needing to stay in the area (it's much better value than others of a similar standard at this location). It's right by the IBM offices by the way. I'd also recommend to couples who are taking a short 2-3 day break and are on a budget, because the journey into the city really is worth the hotel cost saving. If you're staying for longer than that though I imagine it would get a bit annoying having to make the journey into town everyday, and there are no restaurants (except the one in the hotel) nearby.

I only ever visit Amsterdam on short trips, and would never stay anywhere else but here.

Just come back from a 3 day break and our base was the Artemis Hotel. It didn't start well, the pickup i had organised from the airport was no where to be seen, after waiting 10 mins phoned the Hotel and jumped up and down a bit -- taxi arrived 10 mins later, profuse apologies but still charged us. Arrived at the Hotel and was given a free drinks voucher for our party of four, from then on it was 4 star as we expected, reception was helpful and knowledgeable, the room was good and the breakfasts were as substantial as you wanted them to be,
Now the Hotel is about 20 mins. outside town in a business district so nice and quiet at night. You have a choice of tram / bus / metro to get into town, we chose the tram (route 2) the nearest stop is an 8 min. walk from the Hotel, the tram runs every 10 mins. and goes through the suberbs into central station, last tram is about midnight. Buy a pass (three day for us ) at Hotel reception. On our last afternoon we hired bikes from the Hotel, and on the recommendation of one of the waiters cycled about 1.5 mls up the road to a little village called Badendorph( spelling?) well worth visiting and they sell the best 'chips i have ever eaten, they have two good restaurants there as well -- more imaginative than the Hotels standard offering.

This hotel is just perfect for my business trips, close to the tram station and even closer to the 145 bus station.
Excellent breakfast service, average restaurant (pretty slow service).
My room was quite big and clean.
The fans are pretty noisy so I switched them off.
Minibar is empty, no way to get water in the room, you have to go down and buy some at the reception!

Dear dalmata22,

Thank you for taking the time to write a review about your stay in our hotel and your compliments about our location and breakfast.
A few months ago we have decided to empty the mini bars in the rooms, because the items in the mini bar were not used enough and we had a lot of waste. Instead of a filled mini bar we are now selling a larger variety and mini packages at our front office and the guests have the option to store their own drinks or food in the fridge. If you would like to have a drink and do not feel like going down at the reception, we offer a 24/7 room service as well.
We are looking forward to welcome you again in our hotel.

My fiance and I booked this hotel as part of a deal including flights through lastminute.com.

Yes it isn't in the centre of Amsterdam however if you do your research and plan properly then you really won't have any problems getting into Amsterdam. We both enjoy hotels in quieter areas so this was perfect. Very modern and all the amenities you would expect from a hotel of this standard. There are more amenities than some of the hotels I stayed in with higher classifications.

We ony had breakfast on our last morning and it was great with a wide variety of choice for both continental and cooked breakfasts.

Our only niggle was that the taps in the bathrooms didn't indictae hot or cold but once you figured it out then it wasn't an issue. The staff were great and made sure our room was ready for us earlier than usual on the day of arrival.

We have both decided that when we go back to Amsterdam we will most certainly be looking to stay here again.
