“Very nice boutique hotel centred around Fashion”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 5, 2012

Overall a solid 4 star hotel, which was very clean. Went to an exhibition in Amsterdam, so this hotel is not located in the centre. Taxis are very expensive so it'll cost you more than you think to get out to the centre, however the tram and bus station is very close to the hotel and it's easy to get to the centre from there.

Rooms were clean, bed reasonably comfortable and spacious.

Was pretty expensive to buy water/drinks at the hotel so bring your own back

My partner and i had got a really good deal on secretescapes.co.uk for 3nights at this hotel in Amsterdam including free drink each on arrival and a 1hour sight seeing canal trip.
It is 20-25minutes away from Central Amsterdam on bus. Hotel is very modern and displays works of arts around the lower ground, hence the name Artemis. Loads of interesting chairs to try sitting on.
On Arrival we were pleasantly greeted and provided with useful travel information. The hotel has motorcycles and bikes to hire out front and taxis were always outside waiting. My partner and I chose to use Bus, there is a bus stop located 2minutes behind the hotel and takes no longer than 20mins to get in to town. Runs twice an hour. There is a fitness room which is free to you 24/7. Rooms where great, really modern fittings and shower, massive beds and loads of lighting. TV has BBC1, BBC2 and BBC worlds news. Over all really enjoyed the stay and use of room.
Did not eat in restaurant or use room service as found prices where very expensive and over priced. 19Euros per person for breakfast buffer per day. Even snacks at reception where over priced 9euros for a large packet of walkers/lays crisps. NO local shops to be seen but i was informed there was one about 15minute walk away.

Ok, I agree that the hotel is located in the business district surrounded by the ilk of IBM and NCR but really, to have a four star hotel at half the cost of the city center hotels, it is not too much trouble at all. Just think of all the more exciting things you can do in Amsterdam with your money! The hotel is very modern having a Scandinavian feel. The rooms are extremely clean, as was the entire hotel, and do note that our room only had a shower stall, not a problem for us but perhaps if you had small children. The breakfast buffet had all one would expect, prepared very well, do try and get a package for at a separate cost of 19 euros each it is a tad steep.

Room Tip: While in the airport go to the Information desk and purchase a travel card good for all tram travel...

My partner and I went to Amsterdam last year. We were recommended this hotel from Airmiles. The hotel was ok, an average 3/4 star. However, the hotel was around 1.5 miles to the closest bus/tram stop and then a 45 minute tram ride. We walked around Amsterdam during the day and by the afternoon when you want to go back and have a rest, we decided not to go back out into town as we could face the hour or so long journey each way. It really spoilt out trip and although I loved Amsterdam, I would not stay in this hotel again due to the walk and long tram ride.

Room Tip: Do not stay in this hotel if you want to be close to the centre. It is on an industrial estate and a...

Far, really far from the center of the hotel, although transport 15 minutes, the best of this hotel chain to choose the one that is in the center for the same money, because after 8 pm for a long time to wait for transportation that will take you back to the hotel on the outskirts of Artemis . The rooms do not have ashtrays and slippers. About slippers most disappointing. And, most importantly, this never warned on arrival at the hotel take a pledge of € 100 per mini-bar, mini-bar, if not using the time they ordered the deposit is returned. To be honest the hotel is not very much, second time it will not stop. The windows do not open, no shelves in the bathroom where you can arrange toiletries. And the maids are not too kind. The first night found a hole in the bedding. 4 stars for it too.

This hotel offers a very fresh look at the "design " aspect of things.
It is situated in what appears to be a business district near PWC and IBM. It was about 30 euro from the airport.
From chairs made of nails and tennis balls, the reception has it all. The staff were very friendly at check in and offered all the relevant advice regards our stay and the faciities.
Round to the left of reception is a small lounge and bar area plus a restaurant.
The breakfast is 19.50 euro and offers a cold/hot buffet. Nothing to complain about but the price could probably be more realistic at 15.00 euro.
Evening meals offer a little more than you would think and the 3 pepper soup with Paprika was delicious. Followed by the Puy Lentil curry, again tasty and wholesome. The service was very good despite the restaurant being busy. For 4 of us, starters/mains plus a bottle of wine was 162 euro - Not cheap but by hotel standards, not too unrealistic either.
Room service is also available if you don't fancy leaving the comforts of the bedroom.

The beds are like the rest of the hotel. Trendy and functional. Chairs, desk and flat screen allow you to work or relax. The TV offers a selection of movies/music and internet( all chargeable). There is also a direct dial phone if you need it but I would suggest using your mobile, probably still cheaper!!
Tea/Coffee and a mini bar( the mini bar is chargeable)round off the room.
Shower and bath pair up with the toilet and too keep you cosy they have underfloor heating:)
Wifi is free throughout the hotel( so why use the internet on the TV??) but can be slow if everyone is online.

This hotel is good for a business traveller but not so good for those people wishing to visit Amsterdam to sight see. It will cost you about 25 euro to get into town each way and there didn't appear to bea tram in sight. Bear that in mind. Yes your City centre hotel may be dearer but deduct what you'd pay in transport and it'll probably work out the same.

The Artemis is not expensive but is in the middle of nowhere and the restaurant is so understaffed that eating a simple meal can take literally hours: the option is to eat elswhere but there is nothing nearby. The rooms are OK but the beds are uncomfortable: thin mattresses with small sheets that don't stay tucked in. Checking out at (normal) busy times can be very slow - again due to understaffing. It tries to position itself as a business hotel but fills up rooms with tour parties so breakfast can be a struggle. At euro 19 that is also a profound gastronomic disappointment: e.g. weak orange juice from concentrate. You would need a good reason to stay there.
