“Superb value for money!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

Just come back from my weekend break in Amsterdam with friends. The hotel is as the title mentioned superb for the money as after speaking to some other friends who were in Amsterdam at the same time as us I found out that they spent almost as much as us for a hostel!

The hotel itself was a little far out from the centre of Amsterdam but only around 40 minutes walk and there is a close by tram stop making it much quicker and you can purchase a 48 hour pass on the tram for only 12 Euros.
The hotel also offers bikes to rent which are 15 Euros a day, a little more expensive but definitely worth it for the experience.

We didn't eat in the hotel but the staff were extremely polite and helpful whenever we asked any questions and always gave us directions etc.
The room itself was easily big enough and I found the beds comfortable so no complaints there! WiFi was also good, no complaints there.

Definitely a good stay if you want a cheap Amsterdam hotel and don't mind the short bit of travel to Central.

In my opinion the bed was uncomfortable and the room was very out of date. There was a massive draft coming through the window while it was closed so the heating was turned up really high to compensate. It was however very cheap so I guess that's one thing.

Room Tip: cheap, accessible

What we liked: clean, nice bar, helpful staff, great location, free wifi.

Not so good: small room on top floor, very small bathroom, windows would not open.

We didn't try the breakfast but there is an excellent cafe/bar over the road which has live music some evenings.

Perfect for a couple of nights stay. Had very comfortable beds in decent room with good standard bathroom. Other guests were not considerate of the noise they made going to bed but that's not the hotels fault. We were very happy with the room, the park across the road was pretty and the Cafe Sarphaat a few minutes walk away offers good food and drinks. A tram ride or canal boat is required to get into central Amsterdam.

Room Tip: Our room number 17 had three single beds and a nice view of the park.

Everything that requires other means of transportation from Amsterdam Centraal I consider too distant to be cozy, but this hotel in fact has good connections: Tram No 4 from Central Station til Centurbaan station and it's only 3-4 minutes of slow walk to the hotel.

In the dark it isn't easy to spot sign HOTEL, with white letters on black background, but across the street is Sarphati Park so you know you are on the right way.

24 hours reception with good equipped bar where you can get good Scotch and coffee (no to mention beers) in the middle of the night is good thing. Cute chairs in the style of sixties in the window on ground floor near bar disk.

I didn't taste breakfast since I prefer long sleep.

Bathroom was small (and without doors!?) but everything worked there. Bath tab was in the shape of a chair, it was tricky to stand there, but younger guests can manage it, I think.

The single room has a cabinet for clothes (wooden hangers, gratulations!), and cubistic chair under the desk. Good choice of cable channels.

Near the hotel is the stret: Erste Jan van der Heijdenstraat full of cafes, and if you walk further this street and Stadhouedrsjade, you can reach Max Euwe Plein, and Leidseplein.

From there everything is close, concert venues Paradiso and Melkweg and myriades of restaurants and bars.

Cheap, clean and peaceful place.

Some complained about the noise, but I could see the noise came from another guests...

This hotel is far to expensive for what you get. My room was tiny with barely enough room to move around. You can get a hotel for the same price that is a lot nicer. I booked this once accidentally or I would have done the same
The location is good, walking distance from Hieniken factory and Museumplein and only a short tram ride from the centre.
Don't get the breakfast as for €12 you get to help yourself to a bowl of Greek salad, juice and cornflakes. It is not worth the price. There are better places a short walk away.
The beds are changed every night which was a nice touch and the heat was on I think all night.
The walls are very thin and you can hear people come in and out and walking around at all hours but it was quiet when I stayed so it wasn't so bad.
I also spent a lot of time picking pubes, eyelashes and beard hairs off the sheets.
There were renovations being done when I was staying so hopefully the place will be worth the money soon!

The location is just perfect. The hotel is situated in fun neigbourhood with lots of small restaurants, local food and Albert Cuypmarkt. There is a small beautiful park (Sarphatipark) in the opposite of the hotel. Museamquarter is just about fifteen minutes walk from the hotel. There are just a few tram stops between the neigbourhood and Rembrandtplein. There is no better location in Amsterdam for this price for sure!
The hotel stuff was very friendly and helpful.
The minus was the old double mattress of very poor quality.
We have orderded a double room and got a room with one double bed and one two floor bed. After the first night we ended sleeping on the two floor one because the mattress of the double bed was definitely bad. There is also no kettle in the room.
