“Great apartment!”
Reviewed September 3, 2016 for a stay in August 2016

Thanks so much to Hans for a wonderful stay. The apartment was fantastic, a lovely neighbourhood and only ten minute walk from dam square. It was great knowing Hans was downstairs if we did need anything, however the rental was perfect and we would absolutely stay again!

“Convenient basic studio”
Reviewed July 14, 2016 for a stay in July 2016

A basic studio with small kitchen facilities close to the centre of Amsterdam, a stone's throw from Anne Frank house. Studio is clean and functional, with comfortable bed and very good bathroom / shower facilities. Owner lives in the same building, and is friendly and helpful.

Be warned that access is up 4 flights of quite steep and narrow stairs (even by Amsterdam standards). Awkward for luggage if you're fit and in good health. If you have mobility issues, access may be difficult.

A note of caution regarding building entrance. The entrance door has a door knob / pull too close to the door frame. The door frame itself has a sharp metal edge. I managed to catch a finger between door and frame, crushing and slicing open my finger. One need be especially careful in pulling the entrance door shut.

Many thanks for your review. I'm very sorry you've cut your finger on the entrance door. I never had any problems there myself, as well as the neighours or our other guests, but for sure we'll have a look and fix anything that needs fixing.

“NIce apartment/studio in quiet area - highly recomended”

Really nice apartment, the four steep stairs were no problem for us.
Everything worked fine. Excellent bed, nice bathroom, good kitchen to make your own breakfasts or even dinners if you like. Good food store only 6-7 minutes away.
The WiFi worked without problem. Very helpful owner.
A perfect base to explore Amsterdam.
Advice:
- Bus 197 takes you from Schiphol Airport for 5 euros. Time 50 minutes, then a 10 minute walk to the apartment.
- About 30 minutes’ walk to city centre, no need to buy expensive city cards for bus and tram. It is nice to walk along the different channels.
- Buy Keukenhof ticket for 29 euro at Tourist info. Bus 197 plus bus 858 plus entrance plus buses back again. Good deal. Go there early in the day.
- Buy entrance to van Gogh museum at special shop between Rijksmuseum and van Gogh museum. Very long que at the van Gogh museum.
- A one hour boat sightseeing for 10 euro was well worth the price.
- The car drivers are frienly to pedestrians, but look out for bicycles and choppers. They seem to stop for nothing.

Thank you Hans.

“Cozy studio with nice views in Jordaan- Amsterdam”

Jordaan is a very beautiful historic district in the center of Amsterdam with lots of cafes, restaurants, art galleries and good commuting. This cozy studio is under the roof of an old traditional house of Amsterdam. Hans, the owner is a very nice and helpful person. The studio is ideal for a couple. It offers nice views, a very cofortable bed and a well equipped kitchen. Off course there is no lift, but Hans helped me with my luggage. Highly recommended.

“Great location in Jordaan”
Reviewed November 24, 2015 for a stay in November 2015

We stayed 5 nights in Marnix studio, it is very easy to reach from Central Station on tram 14 and has a tram stop for line 10 just outside.
The apartment had everything we needed and we appreciated the tea/coffee which was there when we arrived. The owner's friend met us as agreed and we met the owner another day and he was friendly and willing to help with any information.
The apartment is simply furnished and may need a freshen up soon but for a reasonable price in a good location I thoroughly recommend it.
4 flights of steep Amsterdam stairs may be an issue for some but this is clear in the info and if you're out exploring most days you only do them once a day.

“Spacious studio apartment with nice views and comfortable bed”
Reviewed June 23, 2015 for a stay in May 2015

Been staying here for a number of years now. The apartment is really nice and near to good restaurants and a frequent tram service.

It has a very comfortable double bed, tv and dvd player, internet connection, and nice views from the windows as it is on the top floor overlooking a larger canal.

No noise from neighbours and a friendly owner when needed.

“Calm, romantic, comfortable, fairly central, awesome bed, nice host”
Reviewed June 9, 2015 for a stay in June 2015

We arrived two hours before checkin time, but since the owner lives in the apartment just below the room, he was available. He is a tall and strong man, who will help you carry the bags up the very steep stairs.

On arrival, he gave us a thorough overview of the appartement and where to buy food (there are a great bakery and fish shop 5 minutes away) and rent bikes (we didn't, for lack of time). There are two tram lines nearby which will let you get to any central tourist spot in less than 15 minutes.

The apartment is at the top (4th floor up) of an old historic building, so you do need a good physical condition, but that is pretty common in Amsterdam. There is a great view of the river, in a very calm neighbourhood. The mattress, pillows and bed cover are FANTASTIC, the best I ever had. In this apartment you will be able to have very restful nights.

The only downside is the shower: italian style with no cabin, no electric heating and not much pressure. But that is only a very minor inconvenience unless your are especially particular about your bathroom comfort.

It is not cheap, but it is not expensive either by Amsterdam standards. It is fairly good value for money considering the comfort and the location.
