“Comfortable with excellent proximity to public transport.”

This apartment was light and bright and beautifully decorated. It was clean and warm and the bed was very comfortable. Our daughter was travelling with us and there was enough room for the three of us. The stairs were steep but there weren't too many of them. The owners generously provide tea, coffee, sugar, and much more! The apartment was a short walk to public transport that takes you all over Amsterdam. There are two supermarkets close by and a coffee roaster that has the best coffee in Europe. We loved our stay at The Art Apartment.

“Colourful, spacious and bright”

We loved our stay in Amsterdam and this lovely apartment was a big part of the reason. Robert made us feel very welcome from the moment we arrived, he shared travel tips, offered us a beer and answered all our questions. Robert and his family live on the other floors of the house but, after our warm welcome, we were left alone and did not see or hear anyone -it felt like our space.
The flat is utterly charming - colourful, spacious and bright. It is decorated beautifully and many of Robert's own paintings hang on the walls - a pleasant contrast to the bland decor of hotel accommodation.
There is a short steep staircase up to the first floor apartment and, for this reason, those with mobility problems might not feel comfortable.
This well-equipped apartment has a quirky personality of its own in a charming neighbourhood - a perfect romantic getaway for two, we were very happy here.

“Perfect location, spacious apartment with a well equipped kitchen”

My partner and I stayed here in June and had such a wonderful stay that we wanted to share our experience with other travellers. We booked online with tripadvisor and the process couldn’t have been easier.

Location: Situated in a lovely quiet street in the Jordaan area, within 10 – 15 mins walk to main museums and centre of town. Easy to find if coming from the airport, just jump on Bus 197 and get off at the last stop. The apartment is no more than a 10 min walk with bags.

Amenities: beautifully decorated, light and airy apartment. The most comfortable double bed, blinds (which you’ll need if travelling in Summer because the sun doesn’t set until after 10.30pm) and a fully equipped kitchen. This apartment does have a steep staircase but it’s only 20 stairs or so it really is not a big deal. There were some wonderful little bonus extras that the apartment had form herbs, spices, tea & coffee, body wash and even toothpaste.

Host: Robert and Anna were very warm hosts and a wealth of knowledge about Amsterdam. We received many fantastic restaurant recommendations including moeders for traditional Dutch food and Golden Temple and SIA salad bar, if looking for Vegetarian fare.

We enjoyed this very liberal & trendy city more than expected. I even found a wonderful yoga studio nearby that I attended daily during our stay. You can see the whole city by foot, boat or bike – just remember to always look both ways along the street to check for those speedy cyclists!

“Wonderful apartment with knowledgeable hosts”

Robert was very welcoming and knowledgeable and the apartment beautiful and comfortable. We were given very good directions for how to get to the apartment from the airport by bus, which was very easy. The location is perfect - very close to the centre but quite for sleeping.

We took his advice about where to visit and eat and were delighted with the result (i.e. the Museum Van Loon really does serve the best apple pie and the Hallen is a lot of fun for dinner). We would definitely stay there again. One word of advice - let Robert take your bags up and down the stairs - the are very steep!

“Very comfortable stay in Amsterdam”
Reviewed April 7, 2016 for a stay in March 2016

We had a very comfortable stay in this apartment in Amsterdam. The apartment is clean, modern, and well appointed. The kitchen is large and well stocked, and the bed is very comfortable. The hosts, Robert, Anna, and Milan, were fantastic; they were so welcoming and friendly and treated us like part of their family. They were also very prompt and responsive during the booking process. The hotels in Amsterdam are very expensive and this rental is excellent value. The location is good, although it is not exactly in the center of the city. It takes about 20 minutes to walk to the Rijksmuseum/Van Gogh museum and about 10-15 minutes to walk to the Anne Frank House and Jordaan area. However Amsterdam is a lovely city to explore by foot.

“Artistic and delightful”

We so loved the Art Apartment in Amsterdam last Fall that we went back again in March, this time granddaughter, mom, and grandma. It is a stunningly decorated apartment, comfortable and full of light, with everything you could want or need (including a well-equpped kitchen, coffee, tea, even a box of welcome cookies; plenty of towels, hairdryer, a collection of travel guides and maps and art books). Just a seven minute walk from the (5 Euro) tram to and from Schipol Airport, it is also just a block away from public transportation to the whole of Amsterdam. We love the neighborhood, the canal, the nearby restaurants--and we especially love our hosts Anna, Robert, and their son Milan. We can't wait to go back again!
