“Wonderful stay at Helmers”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 3, 2014

Beautifully appointed rooms, exceptionally clean and comfortable. The breakfasts were great (Odette even gave up her XMAS morning to serve us breakfast), and Odette was so helpful with giving us tips on sights to see and places to eat, both before the trip and while we were there. The location is ideal for accessing all parts of Amsterdam (most within walking distance, biking or public transportation). One note of warning. If you have breathing issues, this may not be the place for you. There is no elevator, and many steps up to the rooms. Otherwise, it's a great way to stay in shape! I would love to come back in summer to enjoy the rooftop. I highly recommend Helmers to all.

Room Tip: Didn't see all of the rooms, but all are named for famous Dutch painters. We were in the Vermee...

with four friends having a separate room for everyone of us, we had a marvellous stay at Helmers. Owners are very friendly and helpful helping you out with pointing out good places to go to for food, drinks and much more. They also serve great breakfasts. The location is also very great, very near to, almost in the middle of, the centre and all the places you have to visit in Amsterdam. We certainly come back! And i almost forget to say that the rooms are very clean with comfortable beds and a superb bathroom and kitchen.

Stayed there for 2 nights in mid November 2013. No problems following the instructions on the web into arriving at Huygensstraat. Initially had difficulty in finding the exact location. Luckily Fons came down to look for us after giving them a call. Helped us carry up the luggage which was quite heavy. Had to climb up a steep spiral staircase. Rooms in the fourth floor. Would suggest a bigger signboard for easier identification. Impressed by the host's friendliness. Nice room decor. We like the curtains & wallpaper which were tastefully done. One of the best breakfast we ever had. Trams 3 & 12 stop right in front of the place. Tram 1 which goes to Central Station stops nearby too. Quite near Vondelpark and the museums. Guests had to share 1 bathroom. Total 3 rooms. Thanks Odette for the nice breakfast! We enjoyed our stay there considering our first time staying in a B&B in Europe. Would recommend to others although not so suitable for guests with walking disabilities.

WE had a very nice stay. This is very clean, very confortable , well decorated ...
The owners are very welcoming and very helpful to give you advice about your stay, what to see ...
We have loved the Breakfast, very nice, complete and was even different from one day to the other : perfect !
I am not surprised it is ranked 20th out of 200 B&B in Amsterdam, it is well deserved.
I do recommend.

One of the best B&B's we have ever stayed in. Odette's breakfasts were awesome and a great start to a day of exploring. There were museums and canals within walking distance and several restaurants and bars. We included tour and museum passes with our booking that was very helpful for a two day stay. The walk up to the 3rd floor was normal for Amsterdam but the stairs were wider than normal and Odette's husband was so helpful in bringing up the luggage. We would love to return and stay longer to take in the sights of the area and enjoy the hospitality and friendly relaxing atmosphere at Helmers B&B.
