We have rented an apartment and our landlady suggested this restaurant. It turned out to be a great find. We have just arrived today and have not yet settled to local time. It was a great relief to find that the restaurants in Amsterdam open early unlike much of Southern Europe. We arrived shortly after 4:30pm - the only other patrons were a pair of Americans also having an early dinner.

Meatballs are what is on the menu - if you don't want them don't come here. They do have vegetarian options, though. The routine is to settle first on how many - the set meals have either two or three included. You can have a variety or all one type.

I chose three meatballs - lamb in a yoghurt sauce. Really excellent. My wife had two pork meatballs in a spicy tomato sauce. Included in the meal is a choice of vegetable dishes - the choices change daily. We had spinach cooked in a soy sauce, fennel salad with citrus dressing and mashed carrots with pine nuts and popcorn (really!it was good!). Lastly we could choose an item from the rice/pasta/potato list. I had potatoes mashed with celeriac and they where phenomenal. My wife ordered a fried risotto ball - it must have been good because it disappeared very quickly.

We had a selection of Dutch and Belgian beers which went nicely with the meal. The bartender was friendly and attentive. It was a great experience. We sat at the bar - there is also table service. The place was beginning to fill up by the time we left at 6:00. Dinner for two - lots of good food and drink was €40,00. Be aware - they don't accept cash, only credit and debit.

And for something different try the Rabarcello liquer. Have you had limoncello? This the same idea but made with rhubarb - it is way better than you might expect!

We each ordered an assorted 3 meatball platter. The meatballs were tasty, but some of the sides were not as we were expecting. All in all, we were full from our meals. It is worth stopping by for lunch or dinner.

The guys that were working were friendly, but lost focus at times as we were wanting refills and to pay.

This place was fantastic. The service, the food, and the atmosphere was the better side of Amsterdam. They are vegetarian and vegan friendly!!!! The restaurant name was deceiving but we're glad we looked at the menu to see the variety of options. Great beer selection too!!! Definitely a must try when in Amsterdam.

When researching into places to eat for our 4 days in Amsterdam, I came across Meatballs on Tripadvisor, which for a pair of vegetarians didn't sound like we could eat there obvioulsy but when researching into it they had a number of vegetarian meatballs! (3 kinds - though they only had 2 of the 3 available that day).

I went for the 3 of a kind option, where I selected 3 balls, a sauce for each ball, x2 veggie sides and choose either pasta or potatoes. The menu recommended the pickled vegetables - which we gave a go - they were incredible, worth giving them a try even if the sound of pickled vegetables doesn't sound the most appertising to you, go for it!

The food was very good and really tasty and the sauces with each ball, which you can pick and choose and mix and match which was ace. Also on the specials they had a carrot puree with pine nuts and popcorn which was also really good!

We'd heard that the service in Amsterdam/Netherlands wasn't always the quickest or that friendly, but we didn't experience much of that on the trip and the staff were friendly and attentive.

Price wise it was ok and about average for the cost of a meal in Amsterdam we found but we didn't feel short changed as the food was amazing, even for Veggies at a place called Meatballs.
