We ate here twice on our short break. Food very good with decent sized portions ( try the dates with bacon!) and atmosphere very vibrant on a Saturday night. We hadn't booked but not a problem and waited at the bar for 10 minutes to be seated.

Open kitchen at the back of the restaurant so you can see your food being cooked. Well worth a visit

been there only once, even the spanish waitress was embarrassed that the food was not that great, the place has potential, but food is very average, also the wine, not very good.

Dinner here has become a weekly event for is. We love the food and the staff. I've also taken colleagues here for business dinners as there is something for everyone on the menu: meat, seafood, vegetarian. The dishes seem somewhat larger than other tapas places we've tried and are easily shareable. Standouts include the arugula salad (fresh and light), the patatas bravas (totally addictive sauce), vegetarian enchiladas, fantastic chorizo (cooked with peppers and onions), garlic shrimp, and the spare ribs (tender and lightly sauced with a sauce that is peppery, not sweet). Daily specials have included very good Pata Negra and less successful empanadas. There are some tasty Riojas on the wine list and they also have a full bar with good margaritas, caipirinhas, and monitors. It gets a little loud at times (due to the acoustics, not the patrons) and the servers can get a little overwhelmed, but they are always smiling and pleasant and the atmosphere is relaxed and homey. It also helps that they are very welcoming to our dog! Castro has become a neighborhood favorite for us for casual and consistently tasty dinners. (Note: there is another location on the East side of Amsterdam but I've never been there...although I understand it to be more of a take-out type of place.)
