Hotel Espresso:

Our stay in Hotel Espresso was rather the mixed bag. I found the bed particularly comfy, as well as the pillows. It was in a good location, the tram stop and local eateries were only few metres away (a dominos pizza next door). The staff where generally friendly.

Unfortunately, the room was tiny, too hot and with paper thin-walls (never more so when listening to those disorientated by local culture throwing up morning noon and night). Most worryingly,we returned to our room one night to find it in total darkness, despite inserting the key-card into the electricity slot. I groped around for the phone and after contacting the receptionist (who had just greeted us on our way up to our room) was informed that the hotel was infact experiencing a power-cut caused by a leak! Information surely more relevant before one enters a pitch-black room without prior warning or a torch? We were left staring at the insides of our eye lids and eating pizza by iphone-light for 40 minutes.

And then we come to the swimming pool: the "wet room"! A shower that doesn’t drain away can mean only one thing: a soggy bathroom floor for the rest of day. If the slippy floor doesn’t get you, the curb on the way out of the bathroom will. Treacherous. (especially in the dark).

After trying to contact reception on the phone for 15 minutes to request the advertiesd "tea and coffee making facilities" for which I'd seen neither hide nor hair of throughout my stay, I approached the receptionist who provided me with tea and coffee but it was all a little bit too late In the day to make me happy.

In a nutshell, good location but overpriced and teeny tiny.

We understand your disappointment . It was also for us a disaster night so short after opening our hotel. We will give better instructions to the staff for the future. Because we are a new hotel there were a lot of other small problems which could be solved quickly. In the past few months disasters did not happen again happily. Now everything works smoothly.

The staff at Espresso were accommodating to our large group, making for a seamless business trip and pleasant first stay in Amsterdam. This new hotel has all the Euro basics and was convenient to the trams and Leidseplein.

The Ikea furnished rooms were small but fresh, clean, beds quite cozy. Among the small list of complaints... we could have benefitted from alarm clocks, a bit warmer showers, and better bathroom lighting. Overall a nice stay and great service!

Well located for easy access into the city. The staff were very helpful considering we arrived late in the evening. Our room was of a good size, compared to other city hotel rooms we have stayed in. There were a variety of breakfast choices. We would strongly recommend this hotel. Excellent value for money.

well situated next to the vondel parc, great restaurants around ("blue pepper" on Nassaukade 366 - a must! ) this minimalist hotel offers the best you can get for that price - small but efficient bathroom - cleancut rooms - open and airy reception - very kind receptionist - good value

This conveniently located hotel opened just a few weeks ago and is off to a good start. The staff there merits recognition for their great work. They extended exceptional hospitality to us after our long over-seas flight by giving us access to our accomodation as soon as a room was available. They were also very helpful by answering our many questions and reserving a taxi for us when needed. Most appreciated! The rooms and bathrooms may be small, however, they had everything we needed:comfort, cleanliness and a nice modern decor. And the hotel has an elevator!!!!(We seniors find this important!) The breakfast was good. We found it to be a good value at the time of our booking and we highly recommend this hotel

Room Tip: The rooms at the back are a bit quieter than those on the street, but we could still hear the frequent sirens going by during the night.
